I am new and signed up a few weeks ago, Thanks to those sending a welcome email. I am 68 and an old grease monkey working on my own stuff as much as possible. Won't tackle a timing belt and have a great local master Toyota tech locally who does the hard stuff.

Bought a 2002 Tundra SR5 Access Cab with automatic tranny a month ago. The hood needs repainting as the clearcoat has broken down but aside form that, a brand new truck! 70,000 miles. The right side power mirror will adjust up and down but not side to side.

Is that typically a motor issue or a switch? The drivers side when the rocker switch is to the left works all 4 ways. Is it just easier to replace the entire mirror assembly? They are not heated and have the chrome back.

Thanks in advance for any info. By thew way, I sold a Ford Ranger to get this one. The Ranger was great but limited. I have a 2000 Avalon with 305,000 miles and runs and looks like new. Amazing car and the Tundra to me is a blessing to find one like this.

Might be the contacts need cleaning on the inside mirror assy switch. Its dainty to remove and some parts may fall out on you during the switch disassembly, but its doable. Removing the main assy off the door is not bad. Disassembly of the switch requires detail work. Probably need to clean up the contacts or readjust the mojo on the rubber stamp.

Thanks and will do. I saw a video where a guy used an aluminum carpenter's square to slide under the mirror and pop it off. Does the mirror need to come off if I remove the entire assembly?

I was thinking your issue is more switch related (at door location). As for the outside mirror, any type of flat hook you can get behind the mirror in conjunction with your hand on the opposite side should work. Make sure you have a rug on the ground in case the mirror drops during pop off. Also, line up the mirror dodads straight and make sure the rings on them are squared up before popping them back on.

Thanks!!! Love your truck. Same color as mine. I have the SR5 Access Cab. Now I am jealous of your landscape. Not near water in China Grove, NC. I'm in "Get off me Daddy, you're crushing my cigarettes" country!
