Picked up my first Tundra yesterday. A 2020 Platinum CrewMax 4x4 in the beautiful Smoked Mesquite. First mods will be window tint, adding the driver grab handle, swapping the chrome mirror caps/door handles for body match and black (respectively), and a DECKED system. Going for a Pro-esque look! :D

There are good threads on this site about ceramic. Basically, a quality ceramic coating of your windshield and windows reduces the amount of heat coming into the truck. This is NOT the tint. The tint is for looks and to reduce brightness. Actually, a darker tint REDUCES the effectiveness of the ceramic by a small amount. Most quality tints today are on a ceramic base to reduce the heat.

Oh. So do ceramic for the heat and regular tint to cut the brightness?

It's one application. Ceramic coating with desired tint level.

Very interesting. Not sure anyone around here does that. There's one quality tint shop that's been open for 30 years. Will call to ask but I don't think they do the ceramic stuff. Seems like everything auto-related is claiming to be "ceramic" now.

My tint guy talked me out of ceramic. His logic is that the truck has an ac that is capable of getting it from uncomfortable to comfortable...it just may take a little bit longer.

hard to argue with him saving my money

    and...welcome to the forum

I got the ceramic on mine and the difference is quite noticeable.
You just dont feel any heat when in direct sunlight... whereas with the cheap tint you still feel the heat/UV hitting you through the glass.

In my opinion, the difference/benefit is well worth the expense.

What’s popping...ceramic tint all the way! 20% all the way around windshield included.

I agree, ceramic tint offers better hear rejection and uv protection than the regular tint. I'm sure glad I got ceramic on mine.

Welcome from San Antonio area. There's a guy here that does ceramic tint on the side for a great price. I think total for a Crewmax is less than 240ish. Let me know if you're interested in making the drive, and I'll get you his info.
