It’s pretty safe to assume that almost every half ton truck at the campground is overloaded im sure.

This is why i capped myself at a 20ft camper when shopping. I ended up buying a trailer with a max loaded weight of 4500lbs and it has about 500-550lbs of tongue weight depending on how we load it. The absolute perfect Size for a half ton i think. My kids are young so they love it regardless of size

We agree on that. Doesn't matter what the yellow sticker says about payload. Keeping adding **** to your truck, and you're going to have to get a smaller trailer, or, leave the dog and/or the old lady home. What would be the fun it that? :D

Yes, but my calculation above includes nothing for the upgraded tires/wheels in my case, meaning Toyota/Gulf States didn't include upgraded tires/wheels in the payload penalty either. I'm thinking you have 7 pounds more worth of bed lights and "Texas Edition" badges. Therefore, you can quit worrying that those big tires and wheels are the reason for your reduced payload...IMO. :D

Port-installed payload weight penalty = running boards (~60lbs) + spray-in bed liner (~40lbs) + floor mats (~20lbs) + exhaust tips (~2lbs) = 122lbs. Since this over 112 pounds, it says there's estimating error in either running boards or the bed liner (internet estimates, not too surprising). There is nothing left to cover the wheel/tire upgrade, which could easily be 10-15 pounds per wheel for the larger tires and TSS wheels (4 X 10lbs = 40lbs!)...IMO.

This looks like the RV park equivalent of a neighbourhood with a HOA. No offense.

Edit 1: I could understand if it was for certain sites, maybe. Like they say some sites are bigger and thus reserved for larger trailers since smaller trailers and tents could go in the smaller sites. I can't see why the rule would apply to the whole place, though.

Edit 2: is this a campground or an RV park? My grandparents used to summer in a park model up here and winter in either their 5th wheel or a park model in Arizona. I could maybe see if it's a place intended for residents to live 6-12 months of the year it wouldn't make sense for tents and tent trailers. But I still don't get the minimum size rules unless it's just a way to keep poor people out. And this reads to me like it's a regular campground with very strict rules.

I agree with @Cpl_Punishment on this one. Could just be some snobbery of the RV park. They don't want to look trashy with tiny cheap trailers. It might also keep the old units that were built smaller out. They have to keep up appearances.

Edit: just saw the age requirement in the line above the length. Sounds like a girl looking for a sugar daddy... "Must be younger than X and longer than Y."

My father happens to appraise more RV parks across the country than anyone. It is a very niche market. I remember him telling me, about a decade ago, about one that was Class A vehicles only, no 5ers or TTs, that sold for $200k per pad. That is some outrageous real estate right there. Some upscale parks have minimums, because they have a clientele that doesn't want to mingle with the people like me.

Well,we went and picked up a used Trailmanor in Winston-Salem today. Specs out right at 3,000lbs. With everything in it, figure we were right about 400lbs of hitch weight. Traveled back exactly 252 miles form Winston-Salem to Augusta. Lots of. rolling hills especially on I-20 between Columbia and Augusta. Maybe the Hills are why I see more vehicles off the road in that 70 mile stretch of I-20 than I do anywhere else.

Towed fantastic with low-profile trailer, checked the stock brake controller (people seem to complain about it) and it worked great. You could definitely feel that little travel trailer stopping the truck. Filled up before I left and used exactly 19.6gallons traveling up and down hills at 70-75 the whole way. So 12.9 real world mpg. Can't see a Ford 6 cylinder turbo or RAM Hemi using premium fuel beating that. Now time to clean it up.

Something else I noticed that relates somewhat to the payload questions: according to the stamp on it, my hitch is only rated for 1000 lbs. Though I reckon I'd be over my GVWR if I exceeded that since my payload is 1270 lbs and I have a canopy and a bed liner.
