Let's see how good our weather service computer models are at "long range forecasting". Two different storms and their predicted paths as of 8AM 08/23/2020

From what I'm reading on Spacecityweather, Laura is the one to be worried about once it gets into the open Gulf. While still early and they could turn/go anywhere, it's looking like LA could take a right-left 1-2 punch in the same week. Ya'll stay safe over there!

Everyone on the coast from Texas to the Florida panhandle, turn your sprinkler systems off. Check your generators and make sure you have a couple of days worth of supplies. Protect yourself and your stuff from the winds. Cat 1-2 is not a really bad storm but can generate tornadoes and high speed gusts.

I'm in Southwest Louisiana in Lake Charles area. Looks like its gonna be interesting. Im putting all my outdoor loose items in the garage and hoping my neighbors do the same. I plan on going to work all week, but that gulf can get crazy, so time will tell.

Baja got hit by a Cat 2 hurricane like 4 days ago, so... much... rain... +20 hrs of constant medium-heavy. Stay safe out there, remember not to leave anything light for it to pick up and swign around.

At least if my 60 year old house takes a direct hit from something, I’ll have a nice foundation to rebuild on.

Tomorrow would be a great time to buy that renters insurance you have been thinking about, or making sure your homeowners insurance has a flood insurance rider.

Good luck finding an insurer. All the ones I know of will not write a new policy, or make changes to an existing policy while a named storm is in the Gulf. And there are TWO of them!

So from what I've gathered from the past...the ECMWF on windy.com isn't as accurate as NAM and GFS. Reviewing both of these shows that I should be spared since it's moving to the east of us closer to Lafayette and New Orleans. Still a chance it'll come for me though. Starting board up process today and tomorrow after work. Our governor just told us that if we don't live in a mobile home or home that's more at risk, just stay home because of covid. Looks like I'll hunker down and hope if power goes out it's not longer than my generator and propane can last (which last I knew was about a week).
