My buddy owns a wrecker company.

He has a 2009 Toyota Tacoma(4x4) with a defective motor(water got sucked into the motor). Everything else is in functioning order.

He just picked up a wrecked 2013 Tundra DC Limited(4x4) with the (4.6L) motor in it. The motor and transmission are not damaged. The truck only had 15K miles on it.

The insurance company would sell the wrecked Tundra for 3K. I am looking into buying it and the Tacoma from my buddy for 6K in all.

My question is do you know of any kits for swapping the 4.6l into the Tacoma. Is it even possible? I am not sure if there is enough space in the engine bay.

Don't know anything about what it would take, but that would be badass! Good deal to. They used to put the 4.7 in the 4runner so you'd think it would fit. For 6k you can always part em both out or just the tundra and get a motor for the taco.

That'd be one badass swap! You'd be pushing even better power than the 1st gens were with the newest 4.7L

given what i've seen LS motors shoved into... where there's a will - there's a way.

Of course, given how much $ this could take, the other adage that may be useful is....

    Where there's a will - there's a vulnerable old lady...

Do you know any Toyota techs personally? Preferably some ones with some custom background, because that would really help. But I would wadger that most of the Ecu that you would use would come from the tundra, but many of the wires would have to be shortened... That's a long of electoral work to undertake if not super familiar with Toyota wiring, but totally possible.

I ended up passing on the deal because the Tundra was more damaged than what I was originally told. There was substantial penetration into the motor bay. However someone purchased the set for 5k. I asked him to let me know when he completes the swap.
