    Hi guys,

I have an aquarium and recently loss two fish this weekend. :(

I have 4 more that look like they are dying also. I don't know what to do.

The water temperature is at 70°F, there are bubbles on their body which is unusual, I have had all fish for about 6months+.

Any idea so I can save my babies?

The temperature has gotten colder at home.

Salt or fresh? If fresh, sounds a bit like Ich.

    None, yet....
Yep, may also want to check the ph level and ammonia content while you are there. All of that should give you an idea of water condition. As stated though, sounds like Ich.

    Can you post pics?

If it is Ick ... besides the treatment, shouldn't he raise the water temperature too. I'm not talking by a lot, but up into the mid/high 70's. I'm assuming he has tropical fresh water fish.

Not specific to ick, but I use this as a preventative.

When new fish are added and at every partial water change. I've only had one disease outbreak in the past ten years and that was a bacterial infection that took furan-2 and erythromycin to cure.

After reading about it, I went up on the temperature. I will buy some stuff to help with it.

I lost one more yesterday. RIP

Yup sounds like ich if it is You can treat the tank with copper. (if it's a reef tank or saltwater in general do not do this) usually ich shows up when the animals are stressed because Water chemistry is off I would run ammonia and nitrate tests. Did you do anything recently before this happened like disturb the substrate, over feed etc?

I had 3 Mollies, 2 Guppies, and one of those algae fish. Now I'm down to just two Mollies.

Yesterday night, my wife and I switched out 50% of the water and got the water to 88°.

These guys traveled from California to Nevada with me without an issue for two months until now. :(

    Oh one or two.
I'm a salt water guy myself but it does sound like ick. Stress is one of the main causes of ick I would get a water test kit or take a sample to a local fish store to test it. Also don't use tap water you want RODI water you can pick that up at the store as well.

If your using tap water I'm betting chlorine or fluoride is causing issues with your water chemistry

70 degrees seems a little low, but I dont know what is best for tropical fish. I have a 200 gallon African Cichlid tank, temp stays about 78-81, and I know a thing or two about ICH. For cichlids, I'd raise the temp to 86 or so, then add aquarium salt and do water changes at the right intervals.

Ich shows up at little white dots on their scales. After a couple days, the white spots will go away. At that point they have fallen off and into your substrate where they reproduce. At that point, they become free floating and release back into the water to find a host. Once they do, you see spots again.

The high temps help speed up the cycle and will kill some of the free floating. It's important to do a good water change after the spots are gone and clean your substrate (sand or gravel) very good. Fill it back up, be sure to use PRIME or another water conditioner and add the appropriate amount of salt based on your tank size. The salt will also help kill it. Just have to repeat the water change and salt treatment until it's gone. Personally I don't like to use other chemicals or ICH killers.

My fish got ick once, I had to separate all of them so I could effectively treat them individually in smaller tanks, which made the treatment more effective. Do you have a tank heater to maintain the temp?

Drop a penny or two in the tank to add some copper.

I only have one fish left. We put him in the spare tank and we'll see if he would make it.
