Im researching my Tundra purchase and the best deal I have gotten so far does not have this package on the SR5 model I am looking at.

In your opinion is this a worthy package? I think the painted rear bumper that comes in this package is the only real value but I can see how the front sensors might come handy when pulling into parking spaces and making sure you are pulled all the way in.

    So opinions?

    See fine print
The front sensors are useless. It doesn't pick up a car right in front of you because the sensors are on the sides of the bumper.. I don't rely on them at all..

The cross traffic alert and BSM is worth it alone.. The painted rear bumper is another plus.. I would defiantly recommend it as this is a big truck.. I use the cross traffic alert all the time when backing out into the street or from a parking spot.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
I like and agree with what BlueBottle said, front sensors are worthless, the BSM is really nice to have. The painted rear bumpers look better than chrome IMO. But, they use the resin support brackets that everyone is waiting to have replaced (see tundra recalls).

X3. Front needs a camera. Don't really like the way the parking sensors work. Managed to back into a car and IMO sensors were wonky. Front sensors are pointless.

Cross traffic however is amazing. A must have.

The front sensors are only for parking and not the cross traffic. It beeps when I get near other cars in my drive way or the trash can but they are for front corners like when you are turning into something, they are not as useful or effective as the rear sensors but you can see the front and I usually don't even rely on them ... The back sensors are very good (both corners and center) mine beeps when I get near the garage door going straight back. Rear cross traffic and BSM are very useful. I was recently backing out of a tight drive way with tall shrubs on both side (no visibility) and was pretty impressed. when I back into my garage, they all beep and flash and drive me crazy (you can turn them off, but i don't) but the camera helps me park the car. When i am all the way in the garage, all back sensors and usually one side of the front are beeping and flashing. Since the truck is so big, it has been useful for me. I don't need them with the Tacoma. I have now backed into the garage enough times that I don't pay attention as much to any of them except the camera. If you are used to driving big cars/trucks, they may just be another gadget ... but nice to have.

I don't have any of this and have survived just fine, I back into every spot anyways. You have to back out of that spot so you are backing anyways. Might as well back in when you know its clear all around instead of backing out and taking a gamble.

u are right. we were visiting a house for the first time and it has a tight drive way and no visibility ... and later found out that they all back in :)
I thought we can turn around at the end of the drive way but no. I could have zipped out of there with the Tacoma!

Thanks for the insight. I have the sensors in my present F-250 and they annoy and I don't use them. So I guess I probably wouldn't use them on the Tundra either as it is easier to drive/maneuver.

Painted rear bumper can be fixed by @Roman

My Tundra is new, so I park a mile away from any other vehicle or possible obstruction to keep from getting dings...I call it my "New Truck Exercise Plan" .... LOL! Seriously, though....I am not a fan of all the so-called safety sensors and nanny devices. IMHO, they just give the driver an excuse to not pay attention when they're driving. I've been legally driving for the past 37 years (and several years before that on tractors)....the first thing I was taught was to pay attention to what I am doing.

Are you going to mod? I changed my front and rear bumpers. Sensors are not compatible with aftermarket. I had to delete sensors any way because they are also not compatible with factory tow mirrors or were not in 2016.

@Over the LINE I will be modding but not to the extent of changing out bumpers. I decided against the package as I don't need the nannys. The only plus in my eyes was the rear bumper but the package is way more expensive than just doing the rear bumper myself through this site.
