What’s going on everyone, I posted an introduction about myself already but here’s to a build thread or whatever else I wanna do to the truck. I bought this from the original owner who has taken great care of it. And driven it for 500k+ miles before I took ownership of it last night. I got the truck for a really good price ($1,000) there are some things I need to get done before I take it on long trips, previous owner stated it loses power and running on a couple cylinders. I will be replacing head gasket, water pump, and timing belt. And things to follow. It also came with a paint matched LEER topper which will work wonders when I need to store my fishing poles back there. I don’t plan on lifting the truck but more so replacing worn items with oem parts. I’ll include a walk around and start up video of said truck down below. Let me know what you guys think, and thanks for stopping by! https://youtu.be/WWGPkbTNKsM

Well guys i just picked up a set of TRD 4Runner wheels & tires for $800. I know I said I wanted to get some maintenance work done before any upgrades but I couldn’t help myself. Here they are, I’ll have to get a picture up when it’s on the truck. Wheels & tires are relatively new (1800) miles.

Here they are installed! I’m also thinking about repacking the LEER topper with a tonneau cover, I’m still debating.

    Greetings FeelTheThump,

Nice score! Our 06 currently has around 240k miles. I would be interested to know what the compression numbers are looking like across the (8) engine cylinders with that many miles. I am planning on checking the engine compression in the near future as it seems simple enough. Thanks for sharing and I hope it makes it to 1,000,000 miles!

Btw, this is the fishing pole holder I install on the ceiling of the cap/camper shell and am really pleased with it.

As soon as I get the numbers I will post them! I’m curious as well. Thank you for the link, I was looking into something similar, just couldn’t bite the bullet on which brand! :)

Something I found in the glovebox, shows the truck was taken care of. I’m so happy I found this, I will continue to write whatever maintenance I do in here as well :) cheers everyone!

changed out sparkplugs, and replaced 2 ignition coils with DENSO ones, #2,#4. it fixed my crazy shaking and a little sputter. I'm fixing the problems as I find them, can't wait for this beast to be ready and take on adventures! Here's a short video on that :) enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR8fKOpTk0A&t=3s

Nice paper work. Looks like its all basic maintenance for the most part. I did notice the record shows she seems to go through carrier bearings on a fairly regular basis (anywhere from 30-80k miles). Wonder if these are Toyota/Spicer Type Bearings?

What an awesome find!! Congratulations on a beautiful gem there! Just an FYI on the ignition coils, if you start having issues again. I had same issue on my 99 Maxima and changed only the faulty coils like you. However I started having issues a few weeks later and was told that if you replace one coil you should replace all of them...Once I replaced all of the coils I never had an issue after that.

Cool to read through all that. I'm anal on maintenance records too.

Sure seemed to replace the water pump a lot.

Probably subscribed to the theory if you're in there doing the belt, just do the water pump as well. It's what I did on my 2006.

I replaced all of mine at the same time because the Older Land Cruiser guys (same 4.7L engine) said thats what they ended up discovering was best. Denso Coils cost about $48 each vs. Toyota Branded (Denso still) at about $150 each.
