    Hey everyone!

Looking for some information/advice. I've been reading a lot trying to educate myself.

I'm looking to possibly buy a Tundra in Jan/Feb but open to anytime after that for the best deals.

I'm looking at a 2020, crew max due to family. Either a limited or TRD Pro.
Is the Pro worth it? I understand that the Pro doesn't really go below MSRP but the limited does.

I don't need a truck and I'm ok with that. I do plan to take my kiddo camping and going off road here and there (but more if the kiddo digs it or opportunity presents itself). Not planning on lifting it. I do plan on running a ARB front bumper because I love the look and the protection. With that said will the limited or the Pro need stiffer springs?

With the Pro when will the fox shocks need rebuilt and anyone know a ballpark price for that?

If it matters I live in Wisconsin where the roads suck and the snow's awesome.

I plan on having this truck for a long time. So buy once cry once /shrug.

    Thanks everyone!

The limited will have much more comfort futures to it, the Pro is beneficial if you plan to do a lot of off roading. I'd say buy a limited or platinum and consider upgrading the suspension if you have concerns. You could have Toyota do the off road package which improves the suspension some but it's not the same as the pro suspension. I haven't heard of people replacing their springs after just doing a bumper upgrade, if you add a lot more additional weight you might need to but the bumper shouldn't affect you too much.

If i were considering a heavy bumper i wouldn’t get the pro. Unless maybe fox can put heavier springs on the front coilovers?

I currently have a 16 Pro. Knowing what I know now... I would have gone Limited for the features and added suspension, wheels/tires, etc.. I love the Pro, but miss some creature comforts the Limited offers. Oh, and probably gone CM instead of DC. That's debatable though.

I think the current pro is built more on the limited platform but with nicer suspension. If you want max comfort get a platinum or 1794 and add some aftermarket suspension. You could do that for less than the cost of a pro. I recently bought a 1794 for about 10K less than a pro despite having similar MSRPs. That’s a lot of cash to do upgrades and have a more luxurious interior. But I couldn’t get the sweet army green though. I did get the awesome tan interior however. There is a lot of love for the Bilstein 6112 in the front and 5160 in the back. You could probably get that done for 1500 OTD or so. The off-road version of trucks have the Bilstein 4600 suspension iirc.

Welcome. I would say look at the Platinum if you want comfort items (electrically adjustable heated/'cooled' leather seats, climate control, etc...) or if you don't care about those get a SR5 with TRD package. That gives you the bigger fuel tank which is great.
The Pro in my opinion is an overpriced SR5. It has leather but does not have all the comforts of a Platinum. The suspension is upgraded but it does not sound like you really need to pay that much extra for it.
    Just my opinion though...

Thank you everyone! This is exactly the input and information I was hoping for.

I don't know why I didn't look at the platinum but I think I may just go that route!

@Doctor Flex thanks for the info. I may just do the Bilsteins myself unless theres a perk to having them do it? Would that be good for the bumper? I've seen some people say they didn't upgrade and others say they felt like they needed to since the bumper is about #250.

@Boerseun thanks I agree I don't think the Pro is what I need or want at this point. I like extras so I looked at the platinum and it might be my go to!

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate the input!

Edit to add, would the dealer debadge it without wanting extra money? Im planning to debadge it regardless.

I love my pro. The suspension is awesome. I wanted something i could get and just drive, not have to start adding stuff right away. I got mine under msrp

if you put an arb bumper on, you’ll likely want springs as well. Last time I checked, the arb bumper is not compatible with with the pro (at least according to arb).

I believe rebuild is $500-600 for all 4 shocks.

no matter which trim you get, you’ll probably want to swap out the tires.
the 2020 has all the creature comforts and sensors. My 19 has the suspension and leather and that’s about it.

You must not have looked at a Pro lately. I've got dual auto climate control.

Pro's moved to the limited trim in 19. Platinum's are nice but your resell value will probably be better with the Pro down the road.

I got a Platinum Edition for the nicer interior. I can handle replacing suspension parts, but you can’t really buy the nicer interior as an aftermarket accessory.

I did not know that. I have time so I guess Ill just sit back and do some more reading.

Thanks again to all the comments/advice I was leaning towards the plat but now with the other chimes in kinda torn again rofl. Eh Ill just keep thinking about it and in February(ish) try to really figure it out. I want to go test drive one but afraid if I do Ill be like oh man why wait get it now! haha.

Just to clarify the Pro rides on a 2.5 lift over the other trims correct?

I think the 2 inches is up front only. The truck is level rather than raked.

Have the best of both worlds. I went with the Limited and added the Pro Suspension to it.

HA yeah I guess that would work what did the Pro suspension run you? That looks really good! I know this is a dumb question but what kinda mpg do you get?

Are the LCA's etc any different from pro to limited? I do love the forged BBS rims on the pro though too. Im sure I can snag them eventually.

Side note for anyone with the plat does the cooling seats actually make a difference?

I actually picked up my Pro Suspension used with about 30K miles on it for $850. I added the Coachbuilder shims to gain an extra 1" lift in the front and went with Coachbuilder +3 Shackles to lift the rear for a somewhat level stance. As for MPG's I'm currently getting about 12-13, but this was after upgrading to 295/70/18 Cooper AT3 XLT's and adding the Magnuson Supercharger. I got 13.5 MPG on a past trip to CA about 600 miles roundtrip. When everything was stock I was around 15 MPG city and about 16-17 on highway.

The Pro Suspension was nothing more that the front coilovers and rear shocks. They do ride so much better than the factory yellow/blue Bilsteins that my truck had come with new.

did you put the pro suspension right on your truck or did you send it in for rebuild? i've got a set i picked up for my tacoma thats got about that same mileage and i've been debating on rebuilding it or just putting it on.

I just threw it on the truck. Mine had roughly the same mileage as the person I bought them from. I'm at almost 61K now and no issues whatsoever.

Mine are the Bilstein version, not the newer Fox setup. I've heard the Bilstein's are not rebuildable or at least that's what I've read on here.

The 2020 pros are better than than the older pros, they are built on a limited platform. Also the pro will hold value more than a limited.
This right here! Get the pro. It's a much better vehicle than the older pros. Heated seats, keyless entry, sun roof, dual climate control, and the better suspension.

I know it's been said multiple times already, but I'll reiterate that the current Pro's are much better when it comes to creature comfort than previous years. Previously it was built on the SR5 platform, and now it's built on the Limited platform. I had this same debate when I was looking to purchase mine, ultimately it came down to either the Pro or the Platinum for me, and the only things the Platinum had, that the Pro doesn't is Ventilated seats (Pro has heated), Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Parking Sonar. I decided I was willing to sacrifice those three things for all of the stuff I gained with the Pro.

I have a paid off limited and if I would do it all over again I would have bought a 4x4 SR5 crewmax. The only thing the pro has better than the limited is the suspension, limited has testicle coolers but even in winter sometimes I never use it. SR5 is cheaper and you can buy quality upgrades with the leftover money. Don’t buy mods based on what you think is cool, you’re wasting money, buy them because you need them after driving and seeing what needs to be changed.
