I know these Amazon ones are so zoomed I can only see cars on the side if they're a few car lengths back. When backing, it looks like I'm about to run something over when its still 15 feet away.

I find that the OEM towing mirrors are good for seeing beyond the trailer, but when you don't have the trailer hooked up they are awful.

If I look at my situation honestly, I tow a few thousand km a year but it's not every week. It's usually towing the camper out, camping and back a bunch of times. If you add it up, 98% of the year, I'm not towing and the towing mirrors stink for general life - especially backing up!

Are you using the ones made by Toyota or just that style?

Yes, that is the one thing I hate about them. I find myself using the bottom mirror instead of the big one. I wonder why it was done like that.

If they didn’t you wouldn’t be able to effectively see behind a 30 foot trailer. Very usable when towing, terrible otherwise.

Where are people wiring in the spot light wiring for the GM style reverse lights? I’m thinking about using the cargo light circuit so I have On-Off-Door but that requires pulling the doors all the way apart and running wires through the dash. Anybody do anything a little simpler with the wiring already at the door?

The towing mirror should vista the rear wheel of the camping car clearly, A cheaper one will be merrier enough.

I thought about getting rid of the Toyota tow mirrors and getting something else. I added convex mirrors on both and I'm now happy. I can see everything.

Where did you get those convex mirrors? They look good!

I'm from Canada so Canadian Tire but they should be available at Auto Zone and the like.

I'm going to grab a set and try them as well. I've got a Crappy Tire close by :spending:
