Now that I will be staying around my home state for a few more years the Tundra is bound to become slightly less highway/tow friendly and become a working rig Thus i finally feel worthy of a little build thread.

I got my first Tundra, an 07 limited 4x4 from a friend of mine, I purchased to make my taco a trailer queen. It had a 4.5" RC drop bracket lift, blocks etc. the typical cheap works. In my year of ownership I made a simple hybrid bumper, rock sliders and a low profile bedrack. Towed a few times to the local offroad park and enjoyed it. I put a steering rack in it due to the DB lift and that was the only problem i had but was expected.

    The day i sold it

I ended up having shoulder surgery about a year into it and decided to ditch the payment as i wasnt really using the truck anyway and my commute to work was 2 miles so i could easily drive the taco plus...... My better half and i had decided a bit before it would be a good time to leave our home state and see the country as shes a nurse and can easily travel for work 3 months or so per contract. Part of the decision to ditch the lifted truck was simply for towing such a rig (the RV). Our first location was clear across the great USA to Washington state so after the truck we packed our important shit and stored it away, bought a 33' RV, sold the rest to hit the road.

Since i couldnt convert back to stock without easily fabbing up a cross member section due to the DB and the bum shoulder at the time we decided it would be best to introduce

Tundra numero dos'.. White 07' Limited CM with 150k and with grey interior this time.
With towing in mind for this build and myself being the diy/builder i am i needed lots of additional storage so i could have working tools as well as anything id need to repair the tundra or RV.

Only pic i have closest to new. This is after the kings and tires went on.

First thing we did was put new tires on, change fluids, lifetime alignment. 33" Discount tire house brand A/T's on stock wheels with 1" BORA spacers.

After the interiors typical storage stuff, led swaps, brake controller, blue seas usb ports, radio etc. was suspension.

I finally bit the bullet and went for kings since never doing it with my taco while it was IFS and i couldnt be happier with my choice. They've been great for loads vs non and being able to adjust. Ditched the front swaybar and added the rear TRD swaybar.

Next we tackled storage solutions. I knew i wanted a drawer system but with a short deadline before heading to WA state i opted to buy vs build and went with Decked. Along with the kings this was another solid purchase and I would buy again in a heartbeat. I use this thing every single day. Unfortunately the Retrax system i grew to enjoy wouldnt work with the decked so i had to get rid of it with intentions of later building a new bedrack. However i proceeded to put the decked ruler to good use while the markings lasted for the first week.

Washington state: I decided i was finally going to attempt the Satoshi mod on the tundra. One of my favorite mods on the Taco. And removed the steps in preperation for rock sliders! Oh and we added another member to the fam.

No time to test the sliders in washington but prior to leaving for AZ next I had just enough time to fab up a mid height bedrack out of rectangle tube which im not typically fan of unless plenty of miters are added. I needed it to be just tall enough for our generator and camping bins to fit underneath but on top of the decked. Also added some aux lights and magnet strips beside the rear light for hanging tools up out of the way.

And off to AZ we go..

I will update this more as time persist.. There is still another year and half to go from here

This is awesome! Great work on all the upgrades. We are obviously biased towards the DECKED system, but you look to be getting the most out of it.

Feel free to share any photos to media@decked.com and we would love to repost these on our social media channels if you are interested.
