Arcus Roll cloud

Last Saturday I awoke to a lightning show like nothing I've ever seen. An Arcus Roll could proceeded 7 or 8 hours of thunder and lightening.
22 separate fires were started in the coastal mountains of Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties. Many of the fires are 3k+ acres and unmanned due to difficult terrain and lack of resources. To top it off, the smoke is so bad that the poor visibility eliminates the use of aircraft.

It's nasty here in the Sacramento valley. Looks exactly like the second pic.

We are supposed to go camping around Bodega Bay in a week and a half. Hopefully it'll be clear.

 

At least there's a good chance for a coastal breeze there.

 

Last Sunday morning @ 0300 am woke me up as thunder & lighting were about. Last two days were smoke filled, had to keep the windows closed because of it. Finally today, we can go outside without 200 AQI.
Tundras got ash all over it. I’m guessing the wind has changed.
Still looks like Santa Cruz mountains are on fire.

The air quality is horrible here in the south bay. 831....are you safe in the SC mountains right now?

 

We are for now. I really don't think it'll threaten us where we're at but packing ditch bags just in case.
