so looking at a used LX 570. 2009 with 170k on it. Dealer wants 20k. Am I nuts, the truck will be staying but this would be a family hauler and the spouses DD. 2 kids and a goofball Spinone for the main passengers.

Wondering on opinions, and any known issues. I know its a gussied up Land Cruiser and I can find those with 300k on the odometer all day long. This makes me think that with the higher mileage on this one I shouldn't be too concerned.

    So let the opinions fly.

    Thanks

Also 20k is about the worst price you’ll find on these. I was recently looking at one in the same price range but decided I couldn’t part with my Tundra and start over on an LX570.

Don’t let the miles scare you. I personally would rather have a LC than a 570. They are built for off road and perform as well. Offer them 17k!

Thanks much. If it checks out hoping if we can get it around 17. Thanks for the forum info. Would love a cruiser but hard to find around here without rust.

I’m in far Nor Cal (cruisers pull premium $) and just saw a private party 08 570 with 175k for 19.5. 100 series LCs with 200k go for around 12-14 if they are taken care of

I traded my 2006-100 series to get into my 2015 Tundra recently as I just need a truck more than an SUV.

It has just about killed me every day since.

I don’t think it’s any kind of deal. More of a average price I would say. Do you love it? If so, don’t lose it over $500

Not sure I am really in love with it. It would be the wife's, kid and dog hauler. Not real sure justifying it for mainly local and some long trip use. Love the durability of these vehicles and thats what I look for long term use. We could get by with a highlander and not be out the extra money, but I know it will out last and have better resale way down the road

It's a strange time to buy used cars as prices have really gone up lately. Limited supply of new cars means limited supply of used cars, so prices crept up reflecting that. It all comes down to how bad you want it vs. how much you want to spend.

Just like Toyota, you can go to the Lexus site and "register" a VIN as yours and see the factory service history. If service history is spotty, then the same cautions apply as there would be with buying a higher mileage Tundra. Also, probably goes without saying, but check the frame for noticeable rust. Being in Iowa, I'd assume salt, and you just want to make sure you're not getting the S.S. Rustbucket,

Looking at data on CarGurus.... they probably have around $15,500 - $16,000 in it (depending on if it was local trade vs. auction vs...???).

Overall, depending on how long they have had it in stock, what they did to recondition it (probably nothing other than washing it, but you never know), and overhead and all that.. Well $17,500 is probably about the lowest they could possibly go and turn a reasonable profit. I'd think their $19,500 is still a bit high, and $18,000 is about all I'd want to go.

But then again, if you love it, have a big trip planned, and think it would be the perfect cruiser for it, maybe the extra $1,500 isn't so bad...

    Good luck!

Much appreciated. It has been on their lot for 3 months. I would bet they can go lower, might just take a face to face talk to get their. Will check on the vin. It came from a nice neighborhood a couple hours away. Basically a small town filled with doctors and a half million house is the norm
