It was nice at the lake this weekend, though windier than we usually get in August so less waterskiing than we would have liked. Big storms Saturday night and this evening.

    Also, GO OILERS!

Dunno if I'll have work in September now. Company is talking about another lull as the stuff they have lined up is coming in slowly from the clients.

I'm so sick of this shit. Is it too much to ask for a stable career and steady paycheck? Fuck.

    A bunch
It's getting so iffy in Alberta right now. All the large projects I know of that were supposed to start this year have either been postponed or cancelled. COVID and oil crash have been a hell of one two punch to the economy this year.

Yeah man. Without some systemic changes at the federal level, the Canadian oil industry is dead and I fear, the rest of the country with it. I'm accelerating my plans to get out of it and into a service type industry like HVAC or plumbing which people will need like it or not. I'm also going to keep trying for the fire dept thing. Depending on some family stuff in the future and how our future careers pan out, in a couple years we're going to take another serious look at leaving Canada.

Good call on the resi/commercial trade. Never go wrong there. That’s why I got my carpentry ticket way back haha. Where out of country would you look?

We want to move to the US. Idaho and Montana are pretty high on our list. Once covid fucks off, we want to take some trips down there and check the areas out in more detail.

Nice, I would like to move south too I think. I would appreciate the longer warm seasons. I feel so much better in summer heat. Joints aren’t as sore haha.

There's that too. If I had my way, I'd spend summers and falls in Alaska then do winters and springs in Idaho or Nevada.

Good call, Hvac or electrical is definitely the right gig if youre thinking trades. Its what i tell the young kids and im a carpenter ;)

Edit: Plumbing is great too i just know service is a $hitty job. Lol. But the pays great. New builds would be sweet.

My brother is a plumber, mainly doing new builds as his day job and service stuff as a side gig. I see what he makes and what his working conditions are like and I wonder what the hell I was thinking becoming a welder.

Just got back from my trip to Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, Yoho and Glacier (BC). Lake Louise area and Banff town has far more people than I expected although still less than normal.

Got snowed on in Jasper ~6 days ago on the Cavell Meadows hike. lol.

And yes, yes, I'll post some pics at some point.

No one at the park here in Ontario. Provincial Park camping with trailer, it'll be dead until Saturday, when we leave.

If all goes as planned, we’ll be moving to Whitecourt,AB Oct 5th. Not that anyone needs to know haha. The goat will be less of a mountain one and more of a rolling hill goat

Good luck with the move Dan! Lots of good outdoor activities around Whitecourt. Watch out for photo radar. Whitecourt pretty much bases their city budget in revenue from radar and are total dicks about it.

Haha thanks for the luck and the tip. Hinton radar is outa control too, so I should be ok with that one. We will find out by day-end if conditions will be removed :)
