Hi all, I'm debating ordering 6112s and 5160s for my 2001 4x4 V8 Access Cab. I've heard nothing but good things and they seem perfect for my daily driver/weekend warrior plans.

In my research on this thread, I see that Bilstein recommends setting clips for 1" front lift with these shocks. I was hoping for closer to 2"/2.5". Does anyone have any experience with adding a level kit to these shocks or would another set of coils work? Is it bad practice to combine components like that?

If I can get more lift I would do upper control arms too. If I'm just going with the 1", should I do them anyways?

Follow-up question... could I fit 33s with a 1" setup? It seems like I could definitely make them fit with 2.5". Wheels are 16x9 with 4.5 backspacing

Thanks in advance for the input!

I can tell you 285/75/r16 Michelin Defenders will fit. They do rub slightly on the inside frame when turning into a tight parking spot but not much. They are 32.8” tires. If you get the big knobbies tires then they will rub hard per other members.

I’ll say this about the lift/shocks question and bail out before being scolded for getting something slightly wrong. :D

There is a Billy Kit with Springs and Shocks that may fit your taste/order. They look to be a great value. You can find them on their site. Enjoy.

Not a fan of 5100's at all. The switch to 6112 from 5100 was night and day.
