Looks like a killer spot for sure. Nice boat too. If we ever got back into floating fun I think we'd get a big party barge like that. Some day...

Happy weekend everyone. What does everyone have planned? I booked this weekend for truck stuff, so hopefully the rain stops. Tomorrow I'll be pulling apart my dash to install some AJT knobs and wire up my dash cam. If there's time I'll finally get my ABS guards on the back axle too.

Was a pretty busy week, but I knocked off early to make a delivery of diapers to an outreach program my church supports in Skagit Valley...Had dinner with my folks and then hauled home...

Also this week, I started teaching my son to drive. Here's his first park job...not bad for a full size truck!

    Make it a good weekend!

Good on ya for the delivery. Your boy parks as good as most drivers out there!
My wife and I are down in Lewiston ID to pick up a 1/4 beef from family.

I wish Palouse Falls was closer....it's about 4hrs from my house so not in "family day trip" range.

Well, no rain was predicted...and there's nothing on the radar. But the mist is heavy enough to cancel truck day. Regrouping now over some coffee and left-over sugar cereal from our camping trip.

Truck looks damn good from this angle! I'd like to see the falls again with spring runoff, should be a lot more impressive.

Back from a day of floating and fishing, unfortunately we got skunked, but the sun was in and out from some cloud cover and the temps were fantastic.

check Groupon too. They had a special on there for ever. They did my last Tundra and Camry. Did both at the same time on a Saturday. Paid cash and “may” have been darker then legal.

I’m planning on taking my current Tundra/4Runner back soon.

Hope they get back to you.

I posted on another thread but since it’s local has anyone used Ironman 4x4 for lifts?
I know a few dealers will only install/warranty them and Toytec. Not worried about that part but if I remember right they are huge in Australia and are trying to grow the US market.
Anyway their shop is like 5 minutes from me and I’m highly considering trying them for the wife’s 4Runner then maybe the Tundra.

Dude, those are amazing looking. Do you make the blade from stock or buy them and do the finish work and handle? And do you sell them?

A beautiful lake/river like that on the "left" side of the state would have no privacy and the water would be full of ass holes...so it sounds like a great day to me.

Never heard of them...but if you go for it, post a review and details please. Always nice to see new folks entering the market.

They aren’t that new. According to their Australia site they were established in 1958. The colors and logo are new though. Not sure when that changed. A guy I work with bought his 20 4Runner and lifted it immediately. His coils are yellow. That couldn’t have been more then 9 months ago.

I will most definitely post reviews/photos if I do purchase. I can’t believe they have so many Toyota options but seem to be hard to find many reviews. Even Rago sells their stuff.

Guess we will see here next week.

    @Green Thunder
I’m forging my blades from scratch. This one was built from a broken bandsaw blade (11 pieces) and a worn out power trowel blade (12 pieces). Forge welded together, drawn, cut, stacked and forge welded again.
The handle was walnut from a broken gunstock.06557FB8-3C1D-4A4F-BF16-5F257B81BF09.jpg

Well we are one step closer to getting the lift for the 4runner. I ordered the BMC /CMC plates...which ever they are. I can never remember . Today just randomly checked SCS website and they had a set of the wheels we wanted for it. So grabbed those up. Now depending on how my OT works over the next couple days depends on when I go talk to the guys at Ironman. Most likely getting the stage 3 kit. I heard they have new UCA coming out so might wait till those hit. Just getting the pieces together till we get everything. Hoping this is done by Black Friday. If anyone sees a tire sale PLEASE let me know:spending:.

edit: I haven't been on much lately because of our house projects and not wanting to spend money on the vehicles......see what happens haha.

Well now I’m pretty stoked to get this stuff put on. Probably install it in the next week or two. Bmc plates shipped. I might just go get those welded in first so that I don’t have to worry about it after. Almost ordered tires today but just waiting till it’s all installed then I’ll go get tires. That way there is no issue with fit.

Thank you! I am pretty excited. BMC plates shipped from Relentless today so I am going to try and get them welded in next week on my only day off. Then I’ll either install the kit and leave the rear sway bar off till the new adjustable end links come in or just wait till they get here and do it all at once.

    Psst...it's Friday. Everyone start celebrating!

It's a weekend of household chores for me. Hopefully I'll have time on Sunday to wash the truck. Might even try to get a coat of wax on before the rainy season hits.

I was reading about damascus steel a while back. Seems they incorporated organic plant matter into their steel for the carbon...it s a lost art.

I don’t know about the addition of plant materials. I think that would be long consumed by the heat of the forge before ever getting close to a weld temperature. The original was called “wootz” , and it was a crucible steel. For centuries the stuff that we call Damascus has been different steels layered and forge welded together to form patterns. In many instances the multiple heats and layering produces higher carbon steel from the coal in the forge. The benefits depend on the purity of the coal and the forging temperature. I wish I knew more about metallurgy. Modern steels are made with so many alloys and carbon content and produced for very specific applications.
Can you tell me where you read about the addition of plant/organic materials? I’d like to learn more about this.

In Hillsboro there's a guy named Murray Carter that runs Carter Cutlery. He's a 17th generation Yoshimoto bladesmith (he learned in Japan using traditional methods) and does his own Damascus steel. The guy is quite the artisan. He also does tours/demonstrations occasionally, so you might be able to see him in action. I thought he had a video on YT showing him folding some Damascus, but I can't seem to find it.

Nice...we stayed at Bayview for a number of years but haven't been back recently. The past couple of times it was a chit-show with some of the other campers. I actually had a "bad experience" there in the bathrooms and it generated my Never Using Campground Bathrooms Again policy. Hopefully things are good for you guys.

Going to the Shrimp Shack for lunch? My wife reminds me every 3-4 weeks that we haven't made a trip up there in a long time...

Wow, that looks amazing. Just the right amount of Leave-me-the-phuk-alone space.
