    Hi All,

I have see some photos online that seems to have some owners install the full length 58" RCI bed rack on their crewmax bed.

I would like to know if all the mounting points would fit onto the factory rail system without modifications?

I am looking to throw on an iKamper 2.0 and would like the longest surface space possible.

    Pictures would be helpful.

    thanks

Here is what RCI responded to me in an email-

“Thank you for your interest in our bed rack. We have a 52" rack that fits the 5.5' bed really well with room for adjustment and we also have a 58" rack that will sit in the bed of the truck as well. Does your Tundra have the accessory rail system in it? If it does you can use the Toyota adapter mount kit ( "T" style ). Since the longer rack will extend past the accessory rail, the "T" style adapter will connect to the bed rack and reach back to the rail and attach to it. If you don't have the accessory rail then you will just drill a small hole in the lip of the bed near the tail gate and attach the rack with a nut and bolt.

I'd be happy to place an order for you directly or feel free to place an order at the website and in the customer comment section just notate that you are running a longer rack in the 5.5' bed and you want the "T" style Toyota adapter plates.”

ordered mine 5/7/20 and have not heard any update.

That info you found for me really help. I did contact RCI and placed my order with them for the 58". The rep told me there will be 2 sets of adapters/mounts. (4) for front and middle (2) special longer ones for rear. Took advantage of their 15% off last day.

Still bit concern fitting a 7ft tent on this. PakRax makes a 65" rack but it is also $1200+

I just called the number and "Tim" picked up *Shrugs*

They told me 3 weeks lead time. But it seems you been waiting longer than that. If you get yours, let me know, so I can anticipate how long I should wait.

    Question,

I have this in one of my other post but wanted to ask you. Have you considered "bed stiffeners" for your load? I am going back and forth and trying to really figure out if it is really necessary for a rack/tent. I don't wanna drill in to the truck if i can avoid it.

Haven’t looked at enough information to give you a solid answer. I need to look into it as well. A lot of guys running them though I thought I heard some were seeing bed cracking after using them so I’m not sure

SDHQ has hidden stiffeners, but they may require drilling still. Instructions in the link

    @TheFreshMouse

Are these the same brackets you got? the rear one seems to be an "afterthought" but it does the job and secures it at the end of the rail system.

How wide is each cross-member on these RCI racks? And how do you guys mount your RTT’s? Some tent companies have hardware that bolts around the bars but it seems like the RCI rack has slots in the bars that run from front to back for mounting (assuming you buy the extra bar). Kind of confusing how to mount it but I’m probably just overthinking it

Cross members are adjustable each of the three cross members is made up of two verticals arms and one horizontal connector. They are slotted so the rack can be wider Or narrower as needed. I ordered an additional top bracket (the ones that run front to back) and my tent sits directly on these two runners. So no need for the hardware to bolt around the bar, just bolt straight through.

you can see the rack a little here-

thanks for the info. What I was really asking was the width of metal on the cross members (2.5" or 3" or 2.75" or whatever). I realize now that I wasn't clear with my question and you answered it how I would have :)

All that being said, I plan to order the extra top bracket and have the tent rest on that. If we can bolt straight through that, perfect. These are the mounting brackets that come with the TuffStuff tent I'm looking at. Do you think these would work with the slots on the two top brackets? They have this to say on the website: Max width of your crossbar should be 3" or less so there are no modifications needed to use the provided brackets (shown in photos) [this is if mounting around the cross-members]

Do you guys think the longer rack will work with a tonneau and the rci adapters? Looking at the bak x4 rolling tonneau.

Are the adapters and rack solid with the x4 rolling cover (or any other cover you may have purchased)?

extension brackets on the rack or ikamper? If you order the 58" rack directly from RCI they should give you the extended bracket to be able to hook up to the rear point of your rails.
