Yeah if electricity is that cheap I would never consider it, or even think about it! Just looking at my bills and predicted bill for next month hurts for the temp I have it at. I figure it could save me money AND since I am stuck here for a while and I like the house and it seems like a good area, I might as well invest in solar since I would rather live comfortable rather than be screwed by PGE.

You should see if there's a local company (or maybe pge does) to do an energy assessment. They go over everything, look to see where you are loosing energy, and how existing hvac is holding up.
I have a friend that works in construction that always wants the house really cool in the summer since he works outside. They put 30+ panels on the roof (leased...terrible idea) and they burned out their ac unit within the first month...had to add another $7k.

With 12kw and two batteries, i doubt you would ever have a bill (check what pge charges you per month to have an account open) so if you are a energy conscious person like i am, its would be nice to set it and forget it and not worry about the bill. Our house has a small 5 panel system that the builder put on, and before we put a pool with solar heater in, we would dip into the negative, now not so much. Since we have solar, we pay our bill once a year in August. We pay between $900-$1100 in usage and about $250 in fees per year.

I say go for it. Tell them to throw a model s while they're at it!

Summer electricity rates in the Denver area it is .054kwh for tier 1 and .099 for tier 2. California is pure rape.

    It really is :(
I could never fathom having 0.054kwh!! I wish!!
You get 5-6kw for the same price of my 1.
    I really need solar.

I have went through their online tutorial, but I am not sure PGE sends anyone out anymore.
I do have a home warranty to fix/inspect the AC which I may have done at the same time. The AC is pretty efficient so far honestly, it has just been HOT and I don't want to pay PGE 400+ a month.

not their solar but we have their power walls. we have large sungevity panel installation and 2x powerwalls hooked up, 3,800 sq ft home. we did whole house backup including adding soft starts to the a/c unit. also in CA so i'm fookin ready when they want to cut my ish this yr. then i've got a small generator to backup my backup system. i love it so far. i originally thought the system would only help for outages but they cycle on throughout the day to supplement grid draw. most days we have powered the house with 75% solar and battery keeping the house at 70'ish when it's 90+ outside! we went through semper solaris b/c we wanted to give back to veterans and support local business. unfortunately it wasn't the greatest exp but in the end they got us sorted. good luck!
