    Hello all,

I wonder if someone could point me to a place to pick up a copy of the 1st gen's official service manual. The one the shops use, not the ones I might find at Napa or AutoZone.

I has a copy of the set for my land cruiser, and found it invaluable. Basically step by step instructions on how best to R&R just about everything.

    Any love?

    Welcome John!

Here ya go, and welcome to the family!
I downloaded this, and am able to search for key words which helps speed up info finding.

If memory serves its roughly 40-46 mb.

Thanks....that's perfect. Exactly what I needed.
Well.....for starters. I am also a big believer in greasy paperback manuals, dog-eared, and held together with ducttape on the spine. So e-bay, here I come!!!
But yes, this is beautiful....thank you so much

I'm not sure where @BubbaW has been lately but if you're still here when he returns thank him instead. I am just the messenger.

I agree with you as I prefer paper backs most of the time. I don't mind being able to search for something, and find it rather quickly using the digital format.

Show us some pics of your truck?

    Sweet-ness! Good color! Again, Welcome!
You have the sought after red hazard button!

Is the rear lifted? Blocked? Not sure yet?

The rear looks to have brand new air bags under it. I have yet to get under her skirt, and see what's what yet.

I do want to maybe lift the front somewhat. And I plan to do a detailed base-line go through once the warchest has been replenished.
Tires are brand new, and are of a narrower variety. Exactly what I prefer. Though, they could stand to be a smidge taller, so next set I'll be looking for an aggressive tread, a bit taller, and roughly the same width. Haven't gotten the size off them yet.
TRD rims possibly in my future.
I now have the FSM both on my phone, as well as in Google Drive.
So I'm game to do a go through once I have the means.

Mine did not come with an LSD, so a mechanical, gear driven rather than clutch LSD is on my short list.

Also on the VERY short list is a new radio head Unit. The little unit that is in there blows. No controls at all. It will play Bluetooth, but the volume level is stuck at "old man." Completely unacceptable.

It has a plastic bedliner. I'm not a fan of these despite them being tough as nails. I much prefer a Rinoliner or some such, spray on bedliner. I kind of need the "grip" they offer.

The truck needs a muffler, and a couple of other odds and ends. Otherwise a seemingly solid truck, and potentially as capable as the 94' 80-series TLC it replaces.

Oh, and the Nerf bars are also not confidence inspiring. They will need replacing soon too. I'm thinking sliders with steps.

Nice! That is a pretty color!

A couple of things for Colorado:

    1) our roads suck the life out of tires, as you know. I've had a gen 1 Tundra DC that I put 250k on, a gen 3 Tacoma, and now a gen 1 Sequoia. These trucks eat tires alive on our roads. I have had the best luck with Michelin LTX - I actually got 65k out of a set on the Tundra and between the PO and myself 70k on the Sequoia. The Sequoia now has a set of Cooper ATX from Discount that are now approaching 35k and they have about 25% life left in them - that is the 2nd place winner. I've tried factory crap, Yokohama and the BFG's with 32k being the best I ever got out of anything else on these trucks here on the front range. YMMV

    2) the low volume on the stereo is b/c Toyota insists on putting weird Bose crap in their cars and the speakers are at a different amp rating than every other manufacturer out there. MY Sequoia got a new set of speakers and head Kenwood Carplay/Android Auto capable head unit last fall when the previous head unit died. I went via Crutchfield - they did a solid job helping me sort out the mess of wiring harness issues and such - very happy now and the Double DIN looks great. Do yourself a favor and get backup camera when you install the head unit (unless you hate them but I have learned to love them)

    3) yeah, I agree those nef bars gotta go!

Cooper's are pretty high on my list. I think they still make a "pizza cutter" style tire at an appropriate height in an aggressive tread. I'll do more research once I begin approaching replacement time.

New head unit is a must, and now, new speakers too.

    Sliders for sure.

Official Toyota hard copy SRM are not available for Tundras after 2011. Owners with trucks after 2011 have to rely on TIS for service information. Subscription is not cheap, but they have several different options for use/copy privileges, e.g. daily rate.

Well them sumbitches... loved the PDF aversion of mine for the LandCruiser. I had it on my Toughbook and anytime we needed info on the trail it was at my finger tips. Sigh

I dunno, this is semi relevant, and kinda interesting.

Why is that? Because of the vehicle age? Old technology? Will they make them eventually? That's perplexing.
