I went to pick up some processed gravel for a base to lay a brick floor in a barn. 6,600 lbs of gravel in a 1,900 lb dump trailer. So 8,500 lbs. Hauled it about 5 miles, the truck pulled very well, was working up a long uphill grade but maybe 3500 rpm. I do not have a brake controller and I would absolutely get one if I Hauled this weight regularly that's for sure. But it stopped fine just had to be mindful.

Is that a single axle dump or just not the full picture?

    Damn you guys with boats.

Last night I was watching a few minutes....ok hours, of cigarette boat racing. Now those machines look expensive, but so much fun!!!

Thank you!!!! My family loves it but I would rather been on a RZR or snowmobile. With Lake Powell as close as it is, its hard not having a boat.

Lake Powell is awesome! I've spent several weeks on houseboats out there when I was younger. Then my mom just had to move east.

Love Powell. We had our boat hauled to Powell two years ago and spent two weeks on the water. Only went around civilization once to restock beer, fuel, chow, pump out and refill potable water. Two weeks with only the family cruising, hanging out, and sleeping in the most amazing coves - can't put a price tag on that - and the scenery is something everyone should see. Hopefully with the good snowpack everywhere, Powell will start regaining herself.

There is nothing like Powell! If my kids could pick between a vacation in Hawaii or Powell they would pick Powell! Yes, the snowpack situation looks to add a lot to the lake this year!

Thanks for posting Brian. I personally tow an 8000lb travel trailer with tow/haul mode and it works great. I remember my 1st outing with it, and I lightly tapped the brakes on a long and steep down grade and the engine/trans does almost all the breaking for you. Toyota did a great job with this feature.

First tow with my 2017 this last weekend. The trailer is 18' and has a GVWR of 5900 lbs so I'm guessing it was around 5000 lbs. Over all it did fine as I'm comparing it to my 2005 Chevy Crew Cab Z-71 5.3. It feels stronger (as it should) than the Chevy. I don't want to get into a towing with cruise control debate but I do. The Chevy did it great up hill, down hill all day. The Tundra doesn't like it in the hills so I turned the CC off when I got to the hills. The Tundra steering is more sensitive and I'm getting used to it. The tow/haul mode makes a big difference. I'm pleased as it is getting near the Chevy towing milage at 9.51 mpg. although I haven't calculated how far the odo is off with the larger tires. I'm still playing with the air bags pressure, I added a bit more after the picture.

    Nice rig and set-up.

I found this site to be accurate as far as knowing different speeds and odo with a change in tire size...

Just be careful with the air bag pressure. To much, and you take away from the WD hitches job. Not sure how much you've towed and used a WD hitch, but measure your trucks fender wells with the truck alone, and record the settings. Ideally you want the same measurements with the trailer hooked up. Takes a little time of back and forth with the WD hitch and bags. Excuse me if I step on your toes, but thought it might help others too. Now shut up and go camping already !

Thanks Lenny, good advice. The Tundra hitch sits about 1" higher than the last one so I really need to start over and set it up correctly.
