Put the resonator on my bamuffler and it sounds much better. Still louder but deeper tone and lost the raspy.

On another note, I bought wheels for my lx470 and they didn't fit... so I'm considering selling and buying an lx570.... my wife thinks I'm crazy and I have to agree.... who buys rims on sale and sells their vehicle because they didn't fit?... but then I can supercharge the 5.7!!

I have friends in Poway and most of my in-laws are in Miramar/Mira Mesa. I'm in Moorpark, its Ventura County but weather is pretty similar to SD.
My cousin and I will never stop joking about my brother because he wanted to buy a head from an MK1 Scirocco, then go buy a car to put it on. The head came from a well built race motor but who goes in that order?

We say things like "I just got a good deal on a muffler, know anybody selling an Integra?" Or "I just bought a hi lift at a yard sale, let me know if you see any jeeps for sale"

Officially began my 4wd conversion. I'm actually amazed at how simple a transmission swap on these trucks are.

Anyone want a 2wd 5 speed with 109k on it?

As of right now, I am still using the 2wd harness. I think I'm going to get a 4wd one from a local junk yard.

    Today:

    1) Performed the short interval spark plug swap at 5k miles to inspect engine health. Plugs look good! Not oily on some like before.

    2) Fabbed up a couple more grounds like the others from a few weeks back. Attached one to the rear engine ECU ground mount back to the Negative Post on the battery. The other ground wire is for when the New Alternator is installed and will run from it back up to the Negative Post.

    3) Worked a little on the teaser mentioned last night along with some other various little boring things.

Can someone talk to me about leaf springs...I'm going to have about 350-400lbs of constant weight in the back and I'm not sure if I should just do aal or go with a better leaf spring pack? I don't want to lose flex or towing ability. Only need about 1.5 of lift and obviously a little help in the weight area. Running 5100's in the rear

General Springs makes a HD pack for our trucks which is made handle an extra 500lbs per their site specs.

Not sure how much lift they’ll give you but I’d guess 1/2-1”? They are made in USA and are a great value. They cost a little more than their leaf regular OE pack which I’ll be using from them.

The other ones everyone will recco here are Deaver and some other brand both of which is super high dolla!!! Long waits and you need to measure etc and send them specs. Sexy name brand for custom, but not worth it in my opinion.

A few others here went General Springs and were happy. Check their site. Ready made and ready to ship last I checked back around the New Year.

I was hoping you'd Chime in @Professional Hand Model I'll check them out for sure. If I wanted to get a little more lift with the general springs hd how would you go about that?

Use a leaf from your old pack. Not sure how it will effect the ride. Check with GS and see what the added lift is on theirs first.

I restored my headlights again. The UV clear coat I used the last time (Krylon UV Clear) apparently wasn't ment for exterior use. It never really hardened and after 1.5 years it had yellowed. I used power tools to strip it off and a clear coat product meant for headlights. I'll see how long this one lasts. The clear goes on very thin and is meant to sheet off. Looks good so far.

The first 2 are before pics. They look far worse in person.

Just came out to both my front doors wide open and everything in my glove box and center console on the ground/truck. Immediately thought I got ransacked but noticed only the food was completely eaten and electronics/knives still there. In Tahoe for the week and just had my first bear experience. Surprised how there is no damage besides the latch on my center console.

Today-Spread red n tacky grease all over the pinch welds on my frame, and preexisting spots, and easy to reach spots. Curious question, how does grease and these other films prevent rust? Is it because it locks all moisture from getting to the metal? Or is because it keeps it wet and oily 24/7 so oxidation cant occur? I also put a good thick layer on my rusted rear pumpkin to prevent the rust from getting any worse. Mid october i will be spraying woolwax on the frame aswell for winter prep

Both. Air creates oxidation. The grease locks air out and also water, as well. The steel pores absorb the oils along with the welds which seem thirsty on our trucks. Like you, I’ve done all the chassis and axles and bumpers with grease. The PB Penetration is key up in the box c-frame folds and all the welds throughout. I notice each time I refresh over the past 2 years I need less PB.

They’re sneaky bastards, as long as they don’t get stuck inside. If so, your car is totaled. I saw one on our hike yesterday in cold stream canyon. With all the trash being left by the asshole tourists, they are staying down around towns.

(Camper conversion underway.) Rebuilt engine w/265K miles, A.R.E. camper shell (w/cab pass-through, rooftop fan, and side windows delete), bedlinered steel ladder rack (w/wooden rooftop deck and hammock mount), all LED lights (red dash, 4" side floods, 32" rear bar), Android head unit, 1.5" lift from Bilstein 5100 struts, 32" DuraTrac tires on factory rims, 1.5" wheel spacers, Moog suspension parts, SuperSprings leaf kit, diff drop, Reese trailer brake control, GoRhino Hitch Step, debadged, F-150 rear bumper, Sequoia center console unit upgrade, partial rear bench seat delete, dashcam, aftermarket speakers, 50% sound deadening coverage, custom tools unit.

It's nearly finished! The bench seat bed unit in my camper conversion needs just a few more touches, so I'm jumping the gun and sharing.

I'm not joking when I say this thing probably weighs a hundred pounds!

I took my time aiming for precision---going crazy with wood filler, sanding, and paint prep---as this is a main furniture piece in the conversion and needs to be multi-functional while looking good. It took several days and I did have fun. The build goal was something compatible with comfy seating, that doubled in size to become a "floating" bed, and had easy access to storage. The almost-finished result meets almost all 3. Normally VanLife designs utilize a whole front face that moves out to support the bed part. I didn't want this, and thought I could achieve the minimalist support-less design with 200LB drawer slides and big I-brackets to strengthen the wood's weak spots. This didn't quite work... More later.

Another aspect which didn't go as planned was the fold-down portion. Originally, I imagined the IKEA bed slats interlocking with each other, leaving one set stationary while the other set slid out---which proved impossible. That's where plywood became the answer. It's angled as not to hit the back window. I carefully drilled holes in the panel at intervals with a 3-inch hole saw to provide airflow (and low-key weight reduction) under the future cushion. If I didn't, trapped moisture would create mold.

I didn't take a photo of this yet, but the top frame uses another piano hinge to open for storage access.

In the end, obviously I'm not a carpenter, and if I had to do it again, I would have very carefully designed everything. If I did that, though, it honestly wouldn't even be started yet. ;) Sometimes, you've just gotta do stuff.

    Finishing Touches:

•Wood is wood, I don't like wood, and this design still bows in the middle when weight is applied (should have made the drawer frame out of steel). Today I'll add three 1x2 supports under the slide-out portion. Anyone have ideas on how to hide them or make 'em look cool?

•White felt for any moving or wood-to-wood contact parts.

•IKEA high-gloss white cabinet faces and magnetic hardware.

    •Gas struts for easy opening.

•Small hidden storage behind seat backing (every cranny counts in a tiny camper)!

•Routered edges on the plywood holes and other edges. I'll leave plywood layers exposed for coolness.

•Two 3-inch foam RV cushions, trimmed to fit, upholstered in grey fabric, and with Velcro sewed in. Let me know if there's any brands you've tried. Might forego bedding as I simply enjoy a cozy sleeping bag while camping.

    ~

    Enjoy the progress pics.

tried for the 3rd time to install the hellwig 991 helper springs....ran into more problems not having the right tool, not having the time, and not being ok if I broke something and couldn't get the truck back together. Ran to the store for a couple things and then decided to put it all back together and just forget about it. Anyone in the market for the helper spring hit me up. New and unused but looked at a bunch of times.

Been working with @Coupe on some testing of his Battery Hold Downs. He sent this free to me in exchange for feedback. I have the straight version for 2002 Access Cab. He sent an Aluminum unpainted version. I painted the TRD and then clear coated the metal with some leftover Aluminum Wheel Clear Coat. Stoked! You will be too.

Give it a try, but I’ve never needed it during the rain. BTW, we just received 10” of rain in 2 days. One day dumped 7” in less than 2 hours time!

Himalayan Monsoon Season is almost over.

I did the HD leaf pack and was very happy with it. The lift was probably just over an inch. I was 23" from hub to fender. The ride wasn't stiff at all, but much less sag and less body sway. I got mine from ATS and they were slight cheaper than general springs. If you need more lift a 1" block isn't a terrible option, or the Tacoma's use the same leaf sizes and I see tons of them for sale because people replaced the trd leafs with 20,000 miles. You can pull that apart and use one of the leafs.

Good eye! It was in an accident about 4 years ago. He had all the receipts for repairs and showed them to me.

Thanks man good info, I'm pretty sure 1 inch will be perfect but we will see with the weight on if they keep the height. I might go with airbags in the distant future for when I have the boat on, other than that the hd springs should fix my situation for sure.
