Hi, we purchased our 2014 Tundra TRD SR5 new and have done no modifications thus far. We need to install a brake controller and are having trouble determining if ours comes pre-wired for this. The TRD is an off-road upgrade, but not specifically a towing upgrade. I called corporate and they ran my vin and provided a package description, however it isn’t the codes page (see attached) that I was hoping for to confirm that it is or isn’t pre wired.

On my 2015 the connector for the in cab end is just sitting there in the dash behind the panel that Ron just mentioned waiting to be plugged into a controller,I know this because I installed mine this week.

Just take a look behind the dash panels on both sides of the wheel and see if there is a connector there and I will bet it is ready to go.

If you have the hitch and tow haul mode switch I would think you have the dash connector there too but also I looked up my VIN on the Toyota Owners Site and it said that I had the Tow Package from there,I have never even seen tose codes anywhere on my truck that you pictured, where are they?

I also have a 2014, our year is rare for the brake controller stuff. Toyota was getting their stuff together for something integrated, but our trucks can't use the integrated factory one that came out later, which really isn't a big deal bc a lot of people don't use their factory integrated controlled and buy a Tekonsha P3 instead.

Check out etrailer.com for the brake controller and harness, and ESP products for the mount if you are looking for a clean install.

ESP is a vendor on here.

I just did this on a 2014 SR5. Is very easy. I added a P3 and the ESP cover. Lookes great!

On the 2014 the connector is in the harness above the parking break. You don't even need to take off the lower left plastic piece to see it, although it does make it easier.

From my experience the 2014s were not up in the dash behind the tow/haul switch. IIRC that happened on the 2015 models.

My tow haul switch is on the shift lever I just meant that having one implies a Tow Package ore wire to me.
