Figured I would start a build thread to document some of the work that I am doing. May not be the craziest build or most elaborate mods but I'm having fun.

Im no mechanic and havent done much wrenching before buying this beauty but its always something I wanted to know more about and there is no better way to learn than get your hands filthy.

I bought this -2010 4.6L SR5 TRD Off-road- last month with 118,000mi and found that Tundras.com was really helpful when I was on the hunt and now after spending endless hours looking at all the fantastic trucks on here I cant stop thinking about building mine (and my wallet and my wife hate me for it).

So this is the truck as I bought it.

Removed the running boards to tackle some rust before it becomes an issue.
Unfortunately I tried to de-chrome those suckers and half assed it so it turned out like shit and ill just be getting some aftermarket ones which I had planned on doing anyways.

Back to the de-chroming, figured I would take a shot at something easier by Plastidipping all the badges which came out pretty clean.

Got some smoked LED tail-lights from DT Moto. Easy install.

Then a slightly taller task of installing the smoked LED DRL headlights from Speed-daddy (Ebay). Would have loved to think these were simple or plug and play but that was not the case. Had a hell of a time wiring the DRL bars, ended up having to use an add-a-fuse and piggy back the ignition fuse but it sure did take me a long time to figure that out.

I do have a smoked third brake light/bed light that I havent installed just yet. Getting at that is going to be a bit of a pain in the ass.

    Installed Back-Rack.

A couple of other things that I didnt grab pictures of are:
    -Husky X-act floor mats
    -Hypertech Interceptor
    -TRD License Plate Frames
    -OEM Under-seat Storage Organizer

A couple of things that are in the works right now:
-Just finished installing Old Man Emu 612 front coilovers, diff drop kit, and rear shocks (didnt get the new UCAs or rear Dakar leafs but might do in the future). I did get the rear blocks and U-bolts to lift the rear 1" but didnt intall them yet because I kind of like the leveled look. (pics to come)
-Ordered a set of Mamba M-19 wheels getting delivered on friday
-Got a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT 275/70R18 waiting for those wheels
-Ordered some color match paint to tackle the front and rear bumper but hasnt come yet
-need to install that third brake light

A couple of things that are on my wishlist for the near future are:
    -SPC UCAs
-De-chrome the front and rear bumpers
-Rear-view/reverse camera (either in the headunit or with the OEM mirror setup)
    -New Head Unit
    -New set of nerf bars

Any feedback or suggestions are more than welcome and I will update this thread as I go.
Thanks for all the help, this community is the cats pajamas.

I was looking through Crutchfield for something that didnt break the bank. The 2660NEX looks nice but I was shooting for something a little less pricey so i can allocate that money elsewhere in the truck. There are a couple of Kenwoods and JVC that would fit the bill probably.

Alright so keep in mind that I have never done any suspension work before this but after a good amount of research, youtube, and note-taking I took the weekend to install the OME 612 front coilover lift and rear shocks that I got from Toytec (thanks Anthony)( ).

Opted to hold off on the SPC UCAs and Dakar leaf springs for now and got the 1" rear blocks with the kit.

I will preface this by saying yup its a dirt driveway. I dont have a fancy garage, I have an 1800s barn that would fall over if I tried to drive a truck in it. But hey, you make due with what ya got. And what I got is concrete pads and lumber for jacks and stands. Sure it was dirtier than a concrete floor but I made it work.

Front coilovers took me probably longer than they should have but I wanted to move slow and not make any mistakes. Learning takes time. The second one went a lot quicker once i knew what i was doing.

Turns out the passenger side original coilover had a crack at the base of the coil. Not a big deal but it helped me justify my purchase to my wife a little better.

I was expecting the diff drop to be the easy part but seating the nut in that tight gap on the drivers side was a son of a bitch. Never in my life have I wished I had smaller hands until that install.

Went into doing the rear shocks like I was going to breeze through it and it should have but the top nut on the drivers side shock was about as frozen as it gets. Ran to lowes to get a nut cracker which didnt work great and had to battle it with a dremel and hack saw. Nothing worth having comes easy they say. Won the battle and the rest went cake.

I didnt put the 1" rear blocks in because I kind of like the leveled look but I have them just in case I want to add some rake in the future, then again I might just go for the Dakar rear leafs.

And that was my weekend in a nutshell. Got filthy, learned heaps, got some sun, and worked hard. Loved the grind and love the outcome.

So basically where I am at now is I need to get this sucker an alignment something fierce. Waiting on my Mamba M-19s to join my Falken Wildpeaks, get em mounted and balanced, recalibrate the spedo for the larger tires i guess and then plot my next move by browsing all the killer Tundras around here.

That top rear shock nut needs to be tightened down a lot more, basically until you bottom it out and it can no longer turn. The bushing will be flatten out like a pancake.

Took those before I tightened everything up. But from the looks of your pic I could go a bit more anyways, will do. I appreciate that my man.

Alright finally got my wheels and tires set up. Brand spankin new matte black Mamba M19s (18x9; +19 Offset) sitting on new Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT275/70R18s. Had to get some new black lugs to fit the Mambas. Here they are.

I just got them installed and they ride great, really happy with the wider stance that the offset change gave me. I felt a little bit of rubbing at full lock so I will probably get under there this weekend and see what needs to be heat gunned or trimmed but it wasnt too bad.

Next on the to do list:
    New nerf bars
Rear shackles (after leveling, although true level, its looking a little nose high so im looking into the Toytec adjustables or something similar)
    New head unit

Since the tires, wheels, and suspension I tried to slow it down a bit. Scrolling through this forum looking a cool ideas.
I have however done some small little mods that didnt cost heaps.

I started off by replacing my reverse and tail lights with LEDs from Alla Lighting and addressing the hyperflash issue with a couple of load resistors, pretty easy swap and im happy with the results.

Next up was the headlights. I finally wired the DRL bars to run as they are supposed to by piggy-backing the IGN fuse with an Add-a-Fuse.
I just had problems from there. First I ordered LED bulbs but they were the wrong type because I cheaped out initially and got the knock-off Spyder headlights from ebay so I had to send them back and get the right ones. The new LED bulbs barely fit because the High Beam enclosure was off-center. went through various different dust covers and initially ghetto-rigged some just so I had lights while I waited on ones that would work. Long story short I got the LED highs and lows to work...
But I made the wiring an absolute shit show, so i added cleaning up the wiring with better connectors, braided wire wrap, and cutting things to the length they should be.

After working my way through those troubles with wiring and lighting I am oddly motivated to do more of it. I will be looking to get some LED fog lights, add a light bar in the lower bumper grill, some marker lights, bed rack light, rear bumper reverse lights, and maybe some other fun stuff. Might throw some money at a switch pro and see what fun i can have.

Another little project I decided to do was add a Land Cruiser "TOYOTA" grill badge to the EAG grille. I got it off ebay and the lettering was white which didnt match anything on the truck really so I decided to use some color match paint and I think it came out pretty well.

I did however run into the issue of how to mount it to the grille. Unfortunately i didnt take any pictures of that but essentially the back of it doesnt have real mounting holes so I super-heated some 1/4" bolts with a torch and sunk them into the plastic, bondod a washer to it and there you have it.

After screwing up painting the OEM running boards (still sitting in my barn), I had been looking for new side steps/nerf bars/drop steps. I wasnt too sure but seeing as I dont do much off-roading and the lift doesnt really require a drop i decided to order some Tyger Auto Blades.

Install was really easy and im very happy with the look and they are perfect for what i needed.

I have some big ideas for future projects but I need to knock out one that is staring me in the face.
    THE CHROME BUMPERS.
I will likely plastidip them for now until I either want to spend the money for line-x, color match them myself which i am afraid to do, or replace them with some aftermarket ones. Plastidip is cheap and I could use the money elsewhere on the truck.
