Toyota is changing how the front emblem mounts to all 2018+ Tundra grilles. The grilles and emblems are changing. If you need a new grille because you nicked yours up a bit, and you have the old style grille/emblem, you'll have to replace the emblem as well which is about $287 at the time of this write up. The best way to find out which type you have is to pull the grille on your truck and find out. I have looked up the parts using VINs and my parts system still gets it wrong, so pull the grille and find out to be safe. In the following image are the two different front emblems. The newer one is on top, and the older one is on the bottom. Notice in the 5 o'clock position on the new emblem is a bolt hole, while at the 3 and 9 o'clock on the old style are two round pegs. This is the main difference of how the emblem is secured to the grille. The new style is bolted in, where the old style has speed nut style washers on the pegs.

If you are wanting to replace your grille with a Platinum or TRD Sport grille, and you have the old style emblem at the bottom, you will need a new emblem. Toyota is almost out of the old style grilles, and once they're gone, that's it. The grille and emblem will supercede to the new one, and you will have to replace both parts. Some 2018+ models already have the new style emblem, but again, the VIN information may be wrong and you need to look to see which one you have.

The Land Cruiser emblem we have been using for 2014-17 Tundra owners will not work on the new style grille any longer with the new changes. To my knowledge, there is no other emblem that will fit this grille.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Are they at least the same shape/dimensions? Meaning, minus all the tab and bolt business would they still fit properly in the oval recess?

If it helps anyone - -

I have a '20 1794 and wanted to delete the Big Chrome Nose. Not a fan of the TRD grille, wanted the Platinum honeycomb. PN 53101-0C041-E0 is the new part. Original badge from the 1794 fits perfectly in this grille.

@Roman , thinking about changing the grill on my 2016 to a honeycomb grill. I have checked around and am not seeing a listing for that particular grill on cool springs. Can you assist? And what, I need the grille and emblem?

@1794TX Can you post a pic? I am trying to replace the front chrome parts on my new 2021 - 1794 and not particular on which grill, just want it black. I am open to keeping the Toyota emblem where the sensor is attached if need be, or just attaching it elsewhere on the grill if its the "T - O - Y - O - T - A" letters across the front. Thanks in advance, new to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. It's been a figurative life saver, and a literal money saver.

Pic of the color-matched surround from a Platinum below. The 2nd pic includes the color matched bumper ends, mirror caps, and black step tubes - low light here just now, so the brown doesn't pop. I like the honeycomb grille best, but someone wanted my used grille for the chrome billet insert, and plenty of folks want the TRD Pro T-U-N-D-R-A insert. You can switch out inserts, but you can't buy an insert by itself, so if the surround+insert combo you want isn't available, you may get stuck looking for used or buying two grilles. If you get the color matched surround, you'll need to get the hood bulge too. Regardless, if you find a grille you like and the sensor doesn't fit, the video here may give you some comfort:

@1794TX thanks for posting this, I am in the same boat wanting to upgrade my 2020 1794 to the platinum grille. Looking at my current 1794 grille, I have the older emblem (bottom pic from above). Can you confirm the old emblem swapped over to the new platinum grille no problem? Or did you have the newer emblem (top pic)? Thanks!

Probably a stupid question...but I can still change out my surround and keep the same grille right? I like the grille, but want to go to a painted surround.

Yes, just take your time when removing the insert from the surround. Many clips that can be broken if you rush. I've heard it's easier if you have a second set of hands. One to hold the insert and surround on one side, while you work your way across the clips.

The link will not work. Have a 2020 grille. Don’t need sensor as it will be going on a 2014.

Can anyone identify which bolt/screw is required for the back of the new-style emblem and where to get? Happy to just run to Lowes if you have the thread and length needed.

I'm in the processes of replacing my 2020 grille thanks to a turkey and ended up finding out that I have the old style emblem that doesn't fit the new grille that I now have.
I've got the new emblem on order, but couldn't ID the bolt needed.

It's a Phillips head screw. I have the part number written down...let me see if I can find it.
