Based off my research, M10x1.0 is correct for the diff union. I will say, it didnt necessarily enter the die smoothly, took a little umph and I'm curious if the technician doing the install simply was afraid to push it further at the risk of cross threading?

    Reference part number 90404-51319.
See post #1, pic #2 here for picture of above part installed, M10x1.0.

Just to follow-up a little more, doing some more talking/research...

The fittings are cut to 100% thread engagement so they're much tighter than the typical 80% thread engagement. This might explain why there was a little extra umph for me to get it started within my die?

Attached is a picture from a most current install, utilizing the same HW that was provided within the breather kits that were sent out.

Again, I know I say it but keep getting involved lol (can't help to want to help), if anyone has any issues with the parts or hardware provided - Jomax will be happy to help, discuss and try to figure out what's going on - please reach out to them direct :)

*Just as an additional note - breather size is the same regardless of engine size/rear axle configuration for the Tundra (smaller engines use a smaller diff).

I GOT IT!!! IT WORKED!!! D:;: IT!!!

OK so I will first start off and apologize. I am sorry for taking the mechanics word.,, but with that being said it was a complete SOB to do ( for me it was at least)!!! And I was under the truck for about an hour!!!

I took off the OEM vent which is hard especially in the dark on your back. It did not come off like a normal bolt it was a very tight fit!!! Finally got it off and looked closely (even put my glasses on) and it looked close enough for me!! It took me forever to get the new piece started and it was a very tight fit the whole way. So I know why the mechanic did not want to do it. I got it started and took a break just lying under the truck thinking about if it was cross threaded!!????:) I decided to continue on and it was tight the whole way and I tightened it up as tight as I dare. It got tight so I consider it on and on in good shape considering how hard the OEM piece came off!!! I pulled a muscle in my back and right t:t and the wife had to help roll me out from underneath the rear end but it is on and now I will have to get my buddy to finish or wait for the wife and finish the hose myself!!!

I AM SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!!!

Getting the vent piece off was a very tight fit and putting on the new part was a tight fit the whole way but it went and I just took my time!!!! I was sure it wasn’t cross threaded because it got tight and the original vent threads were in fine shape when I got it off!!! If I was a mechanic I probably would have done the same thing,,, because it did take me some time to get it started. Your results might be different. This was my experience with this piece. Nothing major just a very tight fit. It’s not like I could spin it on by hand.

The piece was the correct size for my truck!!!

I have not seen the 90 degree piece, I would have preferred that when I put mine on. I did it a long time ago before this kit was available

F74B87D5-0D98-42ED-AC3A-1E2FE6847174.jpg Thanks to a friend that crawled under the truck this morning and ran the tube the rest is complete. I’ll have to take his word until I can get under there or get it lifted so I can see what he did. I’ll say that my buddy used the whole length of the tube running it with the EBrake cable and ending up on the inside by the fuel fill hose pointing up in the air with space around it. There was more than enough ties for the project, have extra left over.

I sent a note to JOMAX, I felt I should. This was their response.

“Most people are hesitant to get it started as well, but it needs to be a tight and paired fitment to avoid leaks when the system operates with a new extension.”

So I installed my ABS sensor covers and diff breather this weekend!!
    1. The 90 degree new piece is tight to get in! The Jomax instructions said to not cross thread and this concerned me!! it feels like its cross threading but its just really tight. it helps if you do few turns and then back it off and keep doing this until its seated.
    2. I mounted the diff breather up past the fuel door onto a square piece of flange metal inside my bedside. This point was almost a foot higher than the fuel door. I connected two zip ties and threaded it with one hand and that lowered the point at which I had to reach to connect the zip ties together. i connected the zip ties and the fed the tube up, once it was up i was able to grasp one end of the ties and pull it tight. It felt like a very very reachy and technical connection to make so good luck. The sliders made this very hard to do as they are right below the bedside opening. All in all its a solid setup and had plenty of zipties. I was able to add some to my tool box kit for future use.
3.The ABS armor was straight forward. The metal flanges that hold the ABS wire on the front tires goes on the outside of the armor. They also have a small arm on them that should sit against the spindle once installed back. I wasn't able to get a torque wrench onto the alen bolt due to the close clearance to the back of the rotor guard but did it by feel.
    4. As a side note: It kind of struck me as odd that the ABS wire hangs out in space exposed. I mean wouldnt something snagging that wire also create the problem we are trying to avoid with this armor? I though maybe I was doing it wrong but looking at the website it looks right. Just seemed like a job half done. I much rather have the armor than not but just thinking outloud.

all in all they are very sturdy and the quality is top notch. I'm sure you could build the same Diff breather kit for cheaper but for 20 something dollars it was worth it to just get it all in one package with instructions. Deciding where to put my stickers was the hardest part!

thanks again to @14burrito and @jomaxcustoms for putting this together!!

EDIT: The instructions for the armor says use pliers but i found that a set of needle nose are the ticket to getting the wire clips out fast and easy. Regular pliers would have been too bulky and unrefined for the job.

Its nice. It swivels to keep tension off the hose as the diff travels. I was thoroughly impressed

Correct, local company bought out the remaining stock so Jomax won't have any more to purchase direct for a few weeks.

@Tundyfundy - got any installed pics??

Thanks for the feedback from your install post. I'll pass it along to Jomax as an FYI for them!

I'm really not liking the answers being given regarding the union not threading properly in the diff bung. They are clearly not the same thread. The tpi on the new 90° union is obviously lower than the stock breather. Something is not right here.
The answer of 'go slow, it's ok, it's just really tight' is really not acceptable.

    To much to list:)
That’s what it is though,,, even my stock piece was tight taking out and putting back in. You already read about the new piece, it is tight and I suppose that is another reason for not using any Teflon tape too,, there wasn’t any sealer on the OEM part. My OEM part was taken out and put back in three or four times not counting the factory and it took an open end wrench to undo it and to put it in each time. Mine is in and no leaks and unless some tragic accident breaks it off I will never have to mess with it again. Let us know if you find something different.

I installed mine yesterday. I got it started by hand then had to switch over to an open end wrench. Just as @Black@Blue19 says the factory one had to come all the way out with a wrench just like the 90 will go all the way in with a wrench. I was nervous at first when I read about it here and since I knew what I was looking for just did it. It was way easier doing it than reading about it, IMHO.

So, my install didn't happen as planned over my last set of days off. I was unable to secure a shop bay and didn't feel like doing it in the dirt of my front yard/driveway. I did open up the package finally and inspect the guards. 99% happy with them, but two of them have some rough spots that I am not the most thrilled about. (I know I know, I will get pics after work) Did any of you have any rough spots/sharp edges/machining marks on the edges of yours?

Yes. I filed a bunch of edges on mine. Especially where the wire was near.
These should have been tumbled to deburr before anodizing.

Curious why some of a batch are showing concerns (as both of you mentioned) and others didnt.

I believe mine came from the same mfg batch and I didnt notice anything unusual.

I have followed up with a few people and have yet to hear anything similar from others.

To add* just went through a whole bunch of pics and didnt notice anything unusual on my after the fact.

Good to know. I'll get some pics of mine, as I don't think tumbling would have solved one of them.

I am not sure how to tell what batch, and to be 100% honest, as long as it's not near the wires I don't know that I care much. I'll still provide the pics, and maybe even give Jomax a heads up. I know some are way more prone to make a fuss and complain over something that is cosmetic like this, but my only concern is with the function. These aren't highly visible parts.

Basically first run (group buy and re-GB sales) should have all been the same batch. Currently another run is being done for stock into beginning of Septemberish.

I can agree with you, while concerns aren't near wiring and parts are not a daily visible item - things of this nature could easily be brought up with Jomax just as an FYI.
