Din sure, but if its as big a screen as the one Evil showed its gonna block the vents. I sweat like a mofo so that wouldn't work for me, maybe in a cooler climate. 2nd/3rd gens have more open space there to work with.

It's bad enough my shift knob sweats when my A/C is on, I don't need my screen sweating too, dammit!

The Pioneer 7600 is the 9", so it looks like it wouldn't block that much, if you wanted that model or size.

I heard something about a "post #108" or something, but that's not important. What is important is this 5.7 engine. :poking::crapstorm:

I have this as well and it's a huge upgrade over the stock head unit. The only thing I don't like is that you can't change the wallpaper with your own pics. It can be done on older, less expensive XAV's. I think Sony blew it on this unit in that regard but it's a great system for 400 bucks.

This is my beef with the newer Alpine also. With the Alpine 107, and I think the 207 as well, you could change the startup splash screen to anything - static or animated? - but it's not something you can do with the ilx-W650 which is annoying to me. Or at least it's not something which was possible as of 1/1/2020 which is the last time I checked.

I heard that it's possible for the manufacturers to come out with a firmware upgrade but they're dragging their feet.

Yeah for the W650, you can find the latest firmware update here which was from December 2019 at the time of this post, but they warn you not to update unless you're experiencing problems. Still, as of that update, didn't support changing the startup splash screen. :(

You have already bought the stereo...not much incentive to make new firmware. Unless, of course, it is the same firmware in future models, which is more and more common.

Did you go ahead and do the update or hold off? I've had a bunch of issues with my W650 but the call issues seem to be getting better. The main problem it has now is it going from night to day screen over and over. I'm guessing because my window tint is so dark it can't tell which setting to use at times.

I haven't done the update. Other than my beef explained before about its support of older iOS devices, mine has been working great.

I read several bad reviews on Crutchfield and Amazon about the W650. Lots of people saying it can't go dim enough, brightness issues, Android device support, bluetooth audio and call quality issues. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've had zero issues. My unit is using the firmware version that came out one revision older than the December release and it's super stable. I've read about that specific update fixing a lot of issues for others but I think Alpine only lets you download the most recent version, I can't find where they're archiving previous firmware.

Truth! I love mine and it boggles my mind how many people get one and do nothing but complain. Makes me think they did zero research before buying the truck. It's the only thing I can think of to explain being surprised by the things the Tundra doesn't have.

I added a carplay2air unit which take some wired apple/android carplay units and makes them wireless. I have an aftermarket Kenwood dmx706s. Very nice for short in town runs where I am in and out of the truck multiple times. The HU to phone connection takes a little longer, but by the time I am backed out of the driveway, it is connected.

This device really does nothing other than let you get rid of the wire.
    I know, I know I am a princess.
