    Good morning, Everybody.

Gonna wave my geek flag a bit and start a thread about Warhammer. Long story short, my brother got into 40k and kind of dragged me along, but I'm still a noob.

My models are mostly still on the sprue, but I have bunches. Mountain of models syndrome is a bitch. I just struggle to get going on any of it, and I'm hoping there are others here that might have some Warhammer stuff too. Might be able to get a little more motivated if I see other stuff from "real" people. I know @Sephon has some of it, so I am hoping to find others who can share some of their experiences and thought on the tabletop war games.

I am hoping to find somewhat normal people to discuss these things with. I'm a geek, but I'm not a neckbeard.

    Good morning,

I do indeed have some of it. Too much of it. I've been involved since the mid 90's. When there were just a couple factions. I've got a couple armies and working on Custodes right now. I probably have at least $1,000 of unpainted models. I know the pain. Here is my trick, one hour a day. I've got a family, I run and own 2 businesses and this time of year I hunt Smallmouth and Musky with a fly rod. I still work on my Warhammer one hour a day. Even it's just sanding off mold lines, it's progress.

I can and will talk Warhammer all day long, I'm too am a nerd, no neckbeard.

Any questions at all, fire away.

P.S. - There is a new edition coming out with new rules shortly, think about that before buying some stuff. Codexes are going to be compatible, but you may want to wait on some more expensive models until we see what they are going to do.

Oh, I'm already set on my army. Went for one I liked the look and a bit of lore on. The Emperor cannot protect you from the Tyranids. The Great Devourer will consume all.

My brother is actually painting them when I get them cleaned up and ready. Before you ask why I'm not painting them myself, look at the pics. Tervigon mostly finished paint wise, but still needing his arms attached.

    Screenshot_20200608-154257_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200608-154253_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200608-154248_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200608-154243_Gallery.jpg

Got inspiration from a basic paint scheme online, and adjusted it a little.

I don't recognize those models. Is the first one from Apocalypse and the second from Sigmar?

The first one is a Forgeworld dreadnought.

Th second is just the standard Custodian guard model, from 40k. GW only makes a couple Custodes models. Forgeworld made some too for 30k and they ported rules over for them, they are getting an update in the new book being released this weekend.

Those tyranids looks so good! You brother is very talented. One of the guys I grew up playing with has about 10,000 points in tyranids. They have been pretty formidable through the years.
I started with Chaos marines, then did Tai, the Space Wolves, the Daemons, and now I’m going to finish my 5,000 points of Custodes and move to either the new Necrons or Imperial Fists.

Nice to see new people getting into the hobby!

Unfortunately not, I’m just fascinated by the mythos. One of the most original pieces of fiction out there. What better brother vs. brother lore exists than the Horus Heresy?

I agree completely, I'm on book 49 of the series. The new lore is fantastic too. With the release of the new edition GW is tasking the writer to create a collaboration that should be a kin to the Horus Heresy in size and scope. All in the "current" 40k setting.

Lol wow never thought I'd see this on here. I used to be a huge Wahammer 40k player. I had a Tau army, DG army, Blood angels, dark angels, and thousand sons army. All fully painted and ready to go. I honestly sold most of it over the past two years restoring my 2007 tundra.

Its really cool to see some guys on here that love the hobby. I have kids and work to much now to really enjoy it, So i sold all but my Tau army at this point.

Nice models! If you're only interested in it for the modeling aspect it is MUCH cheaper than playing the game, but will generally be more expensive than traditional models.

I'm trying to challenge myself to do shading and stuff like that when I paint and those figures look like you can put a really nice finish on them.

My x wife s brother was knee deep into war games similar to this. His whole living room was tables upon tables full of battalions of figures. You could spend an hour just admiring the spectical, and it was a spectical. There were paths about a foot wide to get around. I think it was based on the saga; Heroes of Might and Magic, or something like that.

Could never get into it but, just like most, have always enjoyed seeing the artwork and hearing about the lore. Your resurrection of this thread reminded me of this YTer trading up to get two Warlord Titans:

You ever thought about resin printing your figures? I've thought about it but I figure I should master FDM printing first since I know resin is a little more toxic than ABS.

Closest I've come to Warhammer is my X360 CE of 40k Spacemarine.

I actually got out of it. Still love the stories, models, and lore, but I'm just not willing to sink the funds and time. I'd rather play a video game because I can be casual and it takes less space. As for printing, I know there are lots of people that print their own stuff to offset the cost. especially terrain. Whether or not it's worth it depends on your printing setup, what kind of detail it can do, and how much of a perfectionist you are.

Smart man. I knew a guy who owned a comic/board game shop and it's crazy how much real estate was dedicated to Warhammer. Every now and again, the missus will buy one of the figures from either Warhammer or Pathfinder if the character suits her fancy.

Honestly, I'm exiting the video game statue collecting so I can dedicate more to the TT and other passions and I hear you on looking at it from just the video game perspective. So much calmer and less chaotic.

I dig the models, and enjoy the lore from the codices and such, but I just don't have the inclination to get into the game.
