Hey Jace, hope the home buying is going smooth. Question for you regarding ZPC. Have a 15 CM 4x4 with 2-1/4" lift in front and lowered 1-1/4" in rear. Extremely different angle than stock, so I took it to the dealer and had them do a ZPC. I assume they plug into the ODB port and do this. How long does the procedure itself take and what exactly does it tell the computer ? Is it giving it a new stance calibration ? I am changing the stance of the truck again, bringing the rear back to stock and the front up another 1/4" or so. How important to get it done again ? Thanks much.......

Lotsoftoys, I had you do the zero point calibration on my 13 s couple weeks ago. Does that do anything to the traction control system? Or is there something else that needs to be done to adjust for the bigger tires? My truck makes an awful noise going through downhill turns and the trac light comes on. No sign of rubbing and completely grinding noise free with the nannies off. It didn't do that until the tires, no Ill effects after the lift with stock tires. I've got the nitto exo grappler 285/70/18's, 34x11.5 E rated. So, 2" taller and .5" wider. I've been going through the forums and am not seeing much about guys having this problem, even those running even bigger tires and more lift.

By the way, the truck drives way better with the alignment dialed in! And the jam nut tight on the tie rod, haven't gotten around to giving firestone crap about that!

U stock UCA's? I had that issue on my 2012. Only occurred at certain angles.

Yeah, I'm on stock ucas with 6112's on top setting. 285's on stock trd wheels. No sign of rubbing and I can slide my fingers between the tire and uca. I went to a spot where I could park at extreme angles today and moved the wheels and tried different angles and am no closer than when it's parked on flat ground. It is only doing it with the steering wheel turned about 1/4 turn going into turns when the truck leans, same in rt. Or lft turns at around 30 mph or so. The truck really doesn't lean much with the rear sway bar and bags. And no rubbing noise with nannies off. Could just a very slight rub be the cause, so slight that it's not noticeable with the nannies off? Cv joint issues that are only noticeable with the nannies off? It is really loud and sounds horrible!

Look for rub marks on the uca. What you described is exactly what I had. It only did it on certain angles turns - such as one particular freeway on-ramp that was twisted in nature

I've checked for marks on ucas and the inside of the tires. Can't see anything. Can you do something like the tire inflation chalk test to see it better?

I would wait until u have it where u want it to do the zpc. It takes half hour and yes it tells the computer, this is the new zero point of where the truck sits.

Tsb, bring it to the dealer

So Trac is kicking in when turning sometimes still? Are u on the gas???

Yeah, trac is still doing the same thing. Doesn't matter if I'm on The gas, it actually seems to do it more coasting through downhill turns. Exactly The same position of The steering wheel ( 1/4 rotation)in both left and right turns. The tires are not rubbing anywhere that I can see. I just had one off the truck to get a better look, looks brand new, no marks.

What air pressure are you running? With my E rated tires at 60 psi and no load or trailer, certain road conditions will set off the VSC. Running normally at 35 psi, doesn't happen.

Just dropped the psi from 40 ft and 38 rr to 35 all the way around and drove it, no change. It only does it turned in a certain amount. I took it through a tighter turn going faster and it didn't go off. Got the tires to break loose a little in dry sand on the pavement and it didn't go off. Its just the trac no vsc light.

Hello Jace........I have looked all over and even found different results. Can you post Torque specs for a 2015 CM 4x4 ( primarily suspension related ) Front UCA and related front components, rear u-bolts, leaf spring shackles etc. Thanks much.........

Hey Jace, yeah I am stumped as to what the issue is. I can't feel the brakes engaging or the throttle cutting out. Just the sound like the tires are chewing into the fender liners and the trac light. Is it possible that the tires could make such a racket and leave no marks? Should I make another appt to take you on a ride in it so you can get a better idea of what it is doing?

Jace, first I want to say thanks for taking time out to answer Tundra questions. My dilemma is I just recently had my 2011 leveled with Bilstein 5100's and it threw my ABS, Brake, and Traction light on. The mechanic who installed it said when he realigned it that he couldnt get a Yaw reading after the install. Not sure what to do, still driving with the lights on!!

I will try to remember tomorrow. Just did a lift on a 17 the other day but don't wanna mess up the numbers from trying to remember.

U can if u want man, I can't do much other than look at wheel speeds and sensors and maybe do the zero point again. Pm me.

I bet he stretched an abs wire. Did he pull codes?

He pulled a code, but the one he pulled was an existing one for my AIP. When I left there after the 2nd alignment to figure out what the problem was, I tried to pull the codes myself and they never popped up! Just the AIP code P2442. Of course my reader doesn't have ABS on it. Would it still read it anyway?

I've got an easy question that's probably been asked and answered before.
I put bilstein 6112's up front on highest setting. I'm not going to put any kind of shims or lift. Do I need the diff drop kit? I bought it and it's sitting on my bench. Should I have the dealer throw it on when I do the first oil change?????
My thinking is id rather just put it in if necessary to avoid any warranty issues for cv's, or if it's even necessary. I've basically just leveled it like a TRD pro. Do they come w a diff drop kit?

Should I worry about the clunk when I put my 4wd in on the fly? Is it normal or should I just stop the truck...then engage?

I was just up at Bilstein Corporate offices in Poway, CA yesterday. Great group of guys up there that didn't believe I had 37's on my truck with the wheels and lift I have. I had an original phone conversation and they wanted to see it in person. Anyway back to your question. From what I understand, the Pro shock is only approx 2" lift. Diff drop not needed. The 6112 at top setting is 2-1/2" lift. Diff drop kit not 100% needed, but they highly recommend it as good cheap insurance to the other components. ( CV's, steering links etc. ) I recommend putting it in.......

Looks like the issue with my trucks trac issue is the e rated tires. Dropped them all the way down to 25 and it barely went off. Put them back up to 35 hot, so Probably about 32. My local independent Toyota tech plugged in tecstream and we took it on the same roads where I know it has been acting up. Of course it only went off a little. Hope it was enough to get good data. Dave's not sure if it's possible to get into the programming to adjust for the bigger tires. Apparently Toyota built some you can adjust and some you can't. Like scion, they know the kids they're marketing to are going to change wheels and tires. But they don't think tundra guys will.:annoyed:

Not sure if this has already been answered ( sorry still "newbie", trolling around here ) I have been following a post here from a member (krohsis) posted Oct. 6 2016 regarding the trans thermostat by-pass mod. What he has done is "pinned" the thermostat in the open posistion to help with lowering the fluid temps. Is there any negative affects when doing this? As of now I am not towing a lot , but I am lifted with 35" tires and I am driving in the mountains quite frequently to the snow. i have not experienced the trans "hunting" as i know when to use it in 4S VS keeping it in regular drive mode. i just want to keep my truck running at peak performance for years to come. Thanks! looking forward to what you think about this mod.
