The conclusion to be drawn there is he has to drive the camper to Texas at least annually for inspection. Outside of "non-attainment" counties, there is no emission test to pass, only mechanical condition inspection. In Texas, there is also no registration without passing inspection. When the DMV receives a pass report from the inspection station by internet, registration can then proceed.

Unlikely in my opinion. The legal basis for any govenmental activity by individuals in Texas is residence. Voting is a good example. You must have an address where you could reside to vote in a county election. That means if you own two residences in different Texas counties, you have to pick which county you want to vote in...you can't vote in both, even if there are important issues for you in each county.

Giving an address of a relative or friend for registration in Texas is technically illegal, but it's doutful anyone will ever check it out. Transfer the title to the uncle, then it's all good.

This is until you plan to sell (or buy) a vehicle in these counties. A smog cert is required to change ownership, but a regular Bi-annual smog check is not required. Mendocino County resident here.

I’m the first zip code in the smog zone. (Windsor). Worst mistake I ever made was changing my address from my parents house in Healdsburg first zip code out of the smog zone. But as long as I buy a new truck every six years I won’t have to worry about it...

Or just get it inspected in the right place. The place I've been going to for years doesn't even look at the vehicle. You pay the $10 w/registration and proof of insurance($20 if getting 2 year sticker) They fill out the sticker, take it out to the vehicle, scrape the old one off, put the new one on, and send you on your way. Lol

My friend’s fiancé bought her a new 2020 CrewMax as a wedding/birthday present, and she’s not on here (yet), so she’s asked me to ask about what the best bed cover is...

I like my el cheapo soft roll-up tonneau from Amazon. Tyger brand. Think it’s $100 or so.

Don't know about best, kind of depends on what you want. I had a Bakflip cover on my Ridgeline for about 7 years, liked it at first but less as time went on. One thing about the three hard section covers, when you fold them forward to access the truck bed the last fold has it standing up behind the rear window blocking the view.

I now have a Access Original rollup on my Tundra, so far I like it a lot. Fits good and looks good, also rolls up small and straps down low so you can still use the back window.

I should have taken a pic. There was a Cavalry Blue tunny parked out back by my tunny at work this morning. Both corners of the Tyger tri fold at the front of the bed were barely making contact. The passenger rear had warped up almost a 1/2". A coworker saw it too. Chinese crap. I just got a 2 to 3 year old Extang Trifecta 2.0. No leaks. Just rained hard here too.
My same coworker checked out my Trifecta for a comparison. He agreed...buy American made. Costs more but worth the extra money.

It depends on what her needs are really but I have to think that a Diamondback is probably the best of the best!

Got the same one 10 months ago. Been through a North east winter here in Canada and still works great. So easy to roll up when you need to load something in the bed that's big or tall

@Toyokuhl : what @Black Wolf said, I’m no longer working at AutoAnything. Thanks for the tag though!

@PennSilverTaco thats a good looking truck! I recognize your username from TW. Hi!

As others have said, Tonneau choice really depends on need.

The hard folding are hands down the most popular, and a great versatile choice. If I were to get a tonneau again I’d probably go with a hard rolling cover for the ability to have a fully open bed while still seeing out the back window + the security of a hard cover.

Diamondback makes a REALLY nice cover! Not for everyone, but I’ve yet to hear a single bad thing about them.

I’d ask her how she would like to use the bed, and what the cover will be most used for. Then report back! Or better yet, encourage her to join

oh I’m not surprised that the Tyger trifold is a POS haha. They’re cheap as crap! But they do make a decent vinyl roll up tonneau and for the money I love mine!

I saw several trucks up in Anchorage that had the Diamondbacks and depending on the time of year I'd see a couple snowmobiles or a big 4X4 ATV parked on top with whatever you wanted to stow beneath! I wish I could afford one.
