Fuck, that sucks, and poor kid sitting there as his dad gets randomly shot and killed in front of him. The mom is going through chemo too and now has to take care of three kids. Hopefully the shooter rots in hell for a long time.

I'm sure I will get crap for this but I think they really need to bring back the death penalty. Maybe people like this shooter will think twice before randomly killing someone.

rip doc :( can't have nice things and can't go to nice places because of stupid people. wtf man. and our state's firearm laws suck so we can't even carry freely to protect ourselves. imagine if the gunman fired and the dad was able to quickly reach down, grab his pistol and return fire. CA is home to me and I love this state no matter how much it gets bashed but we need to be able to carry in today's times.

No crap from me. I'd go so far as to recommend bringing back public executions. Show the miscreants what they're in for if they don't change their ways.

Agree, and Public Hangings would be even more effective. They could charge admission and raise all kinds of money. I would pay a dollar or two. o_O

I was born and lived in CA for 48 years. No that I have moved out I would never ever move back as I see how much better it is in other places. We can freely carry here in Idaho with out a permit. Don't have a lot of shootings here.

that's cool man. every state has issues. i've been there to fly fish the snake river and as a person of color, let's just say i experienced some things that i don't in the Bay Area because it really is a melting pot of diff cultures. glad you like it there, no offense intended....just that every state has issues.

Sounds like you need to (A)Turtle Up and buy a 5-6 million home with private security or (B) make changes in the political party that make the rules of your state.

Exactly right my man. People need to be able to at least protect themselves and their loved ones from harm like this. Granted we don’t know the situation, we don’t know if he would have been able to return fire. Maybe he could have. Unfortunately we’ll never know, and this poor kid had to hide for 30 hours until found. Can you imagine the fear in the father’s mind as he’s shot, knowing his 15 year old son is with him? Such an unnecessary tragic loss of life. The fundamental lack of respect people have for one another, their surroundings, hell themselves is astounding.

I have my name on a FDA approval letter for a Pentobarbital generic. My company made a statement immediately after we received the approval that we would not be selling the product for lethal injection but that it was to be used for surgical procedures where the heart rate would need to be slowed to lower blood flow and prevent gushing everywhere. We received multiple emails from all over asking if we would distribute to them for lethal purposes. I’ll never forget one “Would you please reconsider the distribution parameters of your product; we’re dying for it over here.” I don’t think they noticed the pun before hitting send.

Also, terrible and inexcusable what happened to that father. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Honestly, the death penalty will not change anything. I work with criminals everyday while working at a maximum security forensic hospital. Some of these guys don’t care to die, and the ones that will end up on death row know that 80% of the time inmates on death row die from natural causes than being executed. The charts I read at work are unreal, some of these guys never had a chance with the way they were raised. I have guys that were raised in dog crates, made to sell drugs, pimped out at 4 years old so mom and dad could get high. It’s really sad. I don’t feel bad for these guys, but it all starts with the parents. Raise your children to be responsible and respectful, that’s half the battle. I for one am in favor of the death penalty, I just think the system doesn’t work. Inmates know they can do better locked up, 3 hots and a cot, yard time, jobs...why not if you have nothing on the outside. This is a sad situation just out doing what he loved and ends up shot for no reason, prayers to the family.

I live close to where this happened in Nevada County. This is tragic and should have never happened. My condolences to the family. The place this happened is full of drug abuse and derelicts. The "Ridge" isn't the place to go on a vacation. It's like a place out of the movies. That area is the reason that Nevada County has a high crime rate. The authorities caught the shooter, hopefully he will be locked up for life.

Unrelated to this story. But back in the day when I had a Chevy Tahoe. I stopped on a highway shoulder because an elderly man with a classic car was stranded side of the road. As I stopped ahead of his car came out slowly and was about to ask if he needs water. Dude pulled a pistol out... I told him I was just about to offer him help and water. He said that tow truck is coming. He did put the weapon back in his belt but kept his hand on it. Some times people dont trust others.

Thats part of my old stomping grounds and I lived in Calif. for 45 yrs, people on the news used to talk about racism and my friends and i would look at each other like wtf are they talking about.
Then I moved to Louisiana, wanna see the 1930's ? This is where you do it. Racism is alive and well on both sides of the fence sadly.

This is true, and like the Jews and the Arabs in the Middle East, I don't ever see this "human condition" ever improving. We are humans corrupted by the "Dark Force", and this is the dark plan which we can't resist. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the government can not tell individuals how they think, only how they should behave.

The Death Penalty is a part of California law and plenty of inmates are on death row, it just hasn't been carried for many years now.
