    2004 Sequoia won’t start.
I’m stuck at a gas station . Battery has power , won’t turn over . I’m thinking anti theft system , engine is disabled. How do you reset this dam thing ?
I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, still no luck . turn the key and just ticks . Maybe starter ?
    Any help is appreciated

My son came in the tundra and pulled me off to the side of the lot. No brakes, the engine won’t start.

If the starter is clicking it's probably the battery. Did you have the dome lights off when you were loading everything up? There was probably enough power to start it but not enough time to recharge the battery before stopping for gas.

Got the beast home , $100 tow bill.
The door locks are acting strange - not working with the interior door switch or key fob but will manually lock.
Windows are super slow up and down.
Tried jump starting it again - still no good. Going to get a new cheap battery and starter this weekend and start tearing it apart.
Has anyone hear of the OEM engine disable wreaking havoc on a rig before ? This all started after the alarm went off at the gas station...

if you think its the starter, grab a broom handle put one end on the starter, and then give the other end a couple taps with a hammer.

I think there may be another issue going on in conjunction . The ignition cylinder seems to stay "on" when i take the key out , and the door chime keeps dinging like the key is in the ignition , so there is something draining the battery now.

Might not help, but....Years ago I started having random issues with my Chevy Suburban - driving down the road it suddenly downshifted hard and door locks went off and on while driving. Happened again a month later, door locks and headlights flickered and then stopped. Looked on some forums and found that some similar year Silverado's had issues with negative battery cable that led to similar issues. Connection was fine, but the cable must have been corroded under the housing. I replaced the entire cable and it never happened again.

This Sequoia has been my wife's car long before i met her , and the maintenance over the years has been hit and miss. Im preparing myself for a weekend of troubleshooting and swear words.

Being old...and inherently lazy...I would do a simple battery swap with the Tundra before I starting digging to find the starter.

There wasn't enough data for me to help you at the station, but now I think I would check out the battery. These beasts do strange things when the battery is walking dead, and my theory is you can't jump start a battery with a dead cell (non-conductance). These new Toyota batteries are crap, and dead cells are their game. Nothing like replacing a starter only to find out it was perfect in the first place.

    good point.
This truck has 240K miles , overheats in traffic on hot days , was totaled in a wreck back in September ( only minor damage to the rear lift gate , but destroyed a brand new Jeep Cherokee) , and has sat for weeks on end with not being started. Its basically the " go to the property and off road" family rig. We have very low expectations for this vehicle.
Back during the last group buy for Northstar batteries , i bought a group 27F for my Tundra , so i put the 2 year old OEM battery from the truck in to the Sequoia. Not saying its not the culprit , but its on the short list.

When you got it jumped was it by a truck or a car/small jump box? A V8 needs a lot of power to turn over so if you tried jumping with a Corolla it wouldn't have been enough juice.

If the battery has a dead cell, I don't think it's going to matter how big the jumper battery. And, since the battery came out of a 2017 Tundra, I'm thinking that battery is overdue to take a sudden dump.

My 2017 had been cranking like new on errands. When I returned home, I turned the truck off in the driveway. Went back 5 minutes later, and nothing but clicks. Put an old-school heavy duty battery charger on it in the driveway, and nothing. I let the charger set an hour or so at 20 amp charging rate, came back to try, and no change...nothing. Clicked the old charger over to 50 amp jump-start position, gave it a few minutes, tried it, nothing.

The truck didn't move from that spot until my new Northstar arrived.

Does this truck have an aftermarket alarm. I’ve seen the control boxes go bad and cause issues similar to this (the inition staying on With key out is a sign)
