Just signed up, but have looked at posts for years. I was supposed to wake up this morning in Potato Bottom site C on the White Rim Road this morning, but restrictions at work killed that trip so I decided to sign up here instead - probably not a fair substitute, but I'll run with it anyway. Been overlanding our 2012 RW for a few years now and would love suggestions on mods and routes.

    Not quite stock 2012 RW:
    OME BP51s
    OME front & rear springs
    SPC UCAs
    Firestone airbags with Daystar cradles
ARB single compressor, 2.5 gallon reserve tank and air chucks front and rear
    ARB rear air locker
ARB diff breather - front, rear and transfer case
    XO Fab sliders
    RCI full drivetrain skids
Baja Designs & Vision X lighting
    Home-brewed isolated dual battery system
    5-gallon stainless water tank
    Titan Tanks 15-gallon transfer tank
    Full bed slide
    3,000 watt inverter
Leer 100RCC commercial cap with windoors & home-brewed rack
Overland Pros Wraptor 270 awning (the big one!)

We set it up for week+ overland trips and have been doing a couple of BDRs each year (WABDR, IDBDR, UTBDR & AZBDR complete with COBDR scheduled for August, pandemic permitting)

Yes, it's still on the stock size 33x11.5 tires, but will be getting 35x12.5 KO2s this fall.

Thanks. I like to keep it subtle with the look as stock as possible while still being able to go anywhere I want. We've done a lot of expert-only motorcycle tracks in that thing - don't look too close at the paint as it has an awful lot of "custom pinstriping" from trail-widening we've done. Nothing has been added to that truck for show. Everything has been done to add capability including the lights - running sections of the IDBDR in the dark without those things would have been pretty tough and nerve wracking.

Next step is the first major change in the appearance. Looking at a winch bumper. Leaning heavily towards Demello at this point.

    Welcome from Utah!

I love White Rim/Needles/The Maze areas in Canyonlands. The most underrated, incredibly beautiful, life changing places on the planet. I've done White Rim twice as an adult, and a few times as a kid. Actually thinking about planning a fall trip later this year, although I'll take the 4runner instead of the Tundra. Last time I did it my brother came along in his 2nd gen Tundra. It's a pretty technically simple, but extremely rewarding trail.

If you haven't already done it you ABSOLUTELY should. Be sure to stay at White Crack Campground - it's just an unreal place.

Hoping things open up for a White Rim trip next year. It was supposed to be a 5-truck group on it this year. My son set it up as he was anxious to give it another shot after being chased out last time by incoming storms that closed everything down.

We've run the UTBDR in the Tundra, including dropping from La Salle Pass into Moab on what was declared virtually impassable two weeks later, so "technical" definitely means different things to different people. We also did the touristy parts of Arches last year on our way back from completing the AZBDR and so are anxious to get back there to do more exploring.

I'm pretty sure it's a 3 vehicle, 15 person limit for the back country permit..?

We had two permits and two adjacent sites. My son and I each got them in the middle of the night as soon as they became available.

Moot point now as they were for last night and we had to cancel several weeks ago due to travel restrictions. Hope someone else picked them up and used them, though.

i'm in the same category. my truck looks stock and i like it that way. i also went demello, but in my minimalistic attitude, i did just the winch plate. i ordered it in february and it just showed up about 20 minutes ago, so be prepared for a long wait if you order. covid hadn't even taken off when i ordered it and i was told 12 weeks. it was delayed another two months because they're powdercoater was supposedly shut down. hopefully this weekend i'll get it installed and hopefully it's straight forward as there are no instructions, but i'll post pics in my build when i do.

i have a built 80 for my wheeling, but at 3.5 tons, with a 4.6, it barely gets out of it's own way, so i've been taking the tundra a lot of places....good to see you enjoying yours and makes me want to take mine out more.
