We are talking less than a half inch of shaft travel, its .7 height at the wheel and that's around .43 at the shock. o_O

Throw a shim on top and the shaft travel is the same but your full extension distance from coil bucket to lower shock mount is different now, effectively increasing droop.

Pick your poison, but spending time and money on something that minor seems like a waste.

I definitely see what your saying. And I agree it’s minor. But I think as far as the droop he is just correcting for a already existing lean so the distance between shock bucket and lower shock mount is already different due to that droop. He’s just correcting for that so the distance should be the same after the shim.
Basically if he put Two coil overs set at the same height without a shim he would have a different distance between that shock bucket and mount. So the shim is extending the short side to match the side that’s not drooping, so I don’t agree that the distance will be different regardless if he eats up that droop with a different setting or a shim.
We both agree it’s minor but we also both agree that a difference exists. That’s all I’m saying.

Don't take it the wrong way but if I sold spacers and called them shims I'd tell you they're the way to go too. I can't pretend that adding a spacer on top of a coilover fixes a perceived problem without adding another.

Best solve is to put a second gas tank on the passenger side or drive around with a big friend sitting shotgun. :D

Not true at all. You're mixing ride height with available suspension travel, they're not the same. These trucks dont have lower driver side with factory suspension, the coils are side specific. This kit is using matching linear springs, that is where the slight lean comes from.

Put a spacer on top and you'll have an increased effective droop, plus a decreased effective compression (defined as distance between coil bucket and lower shock mount).

Don't use a spacer and do what Bilstein says, you'll have the same compression and the same fully extended droop. The "eaten up droop" isn't gone, you are just riding with .4" more shaft exposed on the passenger side. That won't make a bit of difference. You have the same absolute travel available.

Not trying to argue, so don't take it that way, but I've seen the myths of preload and its effects on travel floating around the internet forever. I usually avoid this topic because most people are sold on it. I've made measured adjustments to my own suspension enough times to call it false.

    :hattip:I'll end on that.

okay replacing the bar end links and bushings for the sway bar. drivers side done but passenger side lower link bolt stuck. tried needle nose lock jaw with regular lock jaw at the same time with a 17 mm wrench but the whole dang thing is rotating.

    ideas?

Tear the boot off and lock those vise grips closer to the tire down on the stud from that side.

i already have the boot off and sprayed some brake cleaner in there. tried that three times.

maybe I just dont have the lock jaws as tight as can be. i used both hands to clamp it down but i do have a very weak left hand

The allen only held at the start. So, if I need to grind/cut this thing off, what is a good tool to get that is versatile and I can use elsewhere? I don't have either now. I think a sawzall would be crazy under the truck!

Hacksaw will make fairly quick work of it, plus they're cheap.
