    Hi everyone;

So i'm a bit perplexed here. I just picked up a 2004 Toyota Tundra AC Limited about 3 weeks ago. Truck came with an aftermarket starter that stopped working and I had it removed. Here's the thing...not sure if my truck came with a factory alarm system? I think it'd be the RS3200 from what I'e found in my google search.

Reason I ask whether I have the factory alarm is because just for fun one day, I did that whole key in key out open door close door combo to get into programming mode, and surprisingly...the truck went into keyfob programming!!!

Anyway, I did my research and picked up a pair of keyfobs suited for the 2004 Tundra with this ID: HYQ12BBX. This is supposed to the be right one from what I could find. So i received the keyfobs yesterday, did the whole getting into programming mode and snap....couldn't get either fob to program, and I followed the instructions exactly.

Soooo.....did i pick up the wrong fobs or does my truck not have the alarm system even though I can get it to lock and unlock the doors and piezo chirp in programming mode? Or am I missing something? I looked under the dash and didn't really see anything in relation to the OEM alarm system and also where the dashlight control knob is, I have a blank there. When i popped out that blank btw...there is a plug there specifically for that blank.

Can anyone shed some light for me? If I was to pickup the OEM alarm, it is the RS3200 yes? Is there a particular Toyota that would have the RS3200 that would fit the 04 Tundra if I were to hit up the wreckers?

Thanks for your time and insight.

    Ch0y.

If you got into program mode you have it. Do you have the owners manual for the truck? If you do the key fob fcc iD is listed in the manual. I tried many different fobs till I found the one that worked... it was listen in the manual in the section pertaining to the keyfob. It was in a grey box. This was for an 05. But my module I got for the keyless was from an 04 limited

Oh cool thanks for the tip, I'll check the manual. I'm hoping I just bought the wrong remotes...

EDIT: In the manual I couldn't find the FCC ID, but managed to find a book about how to use the buttons for the Toyota VIP remote keyless entry system haha. I did also find the piezo siren under the hood, so fairly certain i have it but it's only the remote keyless entry system instead.

    Just an update for everyone:

So did a bunch of research and ends up I do in fact have the factory security system - YAY!!! However, I think it's a port installed setup rather than from the factory, so it's configured as the the Toyota VIP remote entry system rather than the actual alarm system. Lots of work and research and trips to the wreckers looking for viable alarm system parts and finally ended up finding a glass break sensor (unfortunately didn't fit (diff plugs)) and the actual alarm light all from a 2004 Scion Xb!!!

    Pics:

Got the light installed as there was even a factory plug behind the blank plug that was made specifically for this security light/glassbreak sensor. Guess what? Didn't work...could not get it to light up no matter what I did. Researched into this and apparently there is a jumper behind the driver side kick panel that just needed to be removed per this site:

    Now it lights up:

Anyway slowly got to where I wanted to get to. Was able to program up the auto lock/unlock feature when you started the truck too so I was 99.9% convinced I did have the system but just couldn't get the keyfobs I purchased earlier to code.

Ended up picking this one up as I during my research it indicated that this is the one for the port installed alarms hence why I think I had a port installed alarm system - FCC ID: BAB237131-056.

Today I finally got the chance to try to program up this fob.....and it worked!!! Doors lock and unlock, piezo siren chirps, and park lights flash accordingly. I haven't been this excited about this truck since I picked her up a couple months ago hahaha. Was able to go in a program the system as well to unlock all doors via one click - great feature.

Thanks to all the pm's and insight from everyone on where to look and what to do, really appreciate the help. Big thanks to @empty_lord for his insight on trying different keyfobs. Didn't even cross my mind since I picked up what I thought was the correct fobs. Now just have to find the actual glass break sensor.

The glass breakage sensor is part of the security light

Wait, my security light is supposed to light up? I don't think mine does. I haven't dicked around with it too much. Where I live, if someone wants your vehicle, they're gonna get your vehicle. Nothing installed at the factory, ported or aftermarket is going to stop them. At best it may slow them down a few seconds.

I have a spare matching key fob just in case i lose one of my two. Truck came with 1, I got one nice OEM one for $29+ ship, and a medium-condition one for $26 + ship. My local junkyard sells them for $15-20/ea but after 3 months of calling all their locations in town and one other salvage yard that usually does me well, nothing new came in.

Boston right hand driver side kick panel - look for the 3P plug and yank it out, that should do it.

Totally agree with you re: theft - if they want it, they'll get it. I'm just trying to deter or at least make it harder for them to steal.
