I’ve searched and searched and still can’t get a for sure answer.

I have a freshly powder coated set of RW’s I want to put on my 2016 Tundra. At first I wanted 285/75/17’s but they seem to be hard to find. A local tire shop has some 315/70/17’s and I’m curious if they will rub with a 3” level? I’ve been told they rub on the UCA’s and I’ve been told they don’t.

Any help would be great! Pictures too!

If they are KO2s, they will not rub.

@TemujinNomad The shop I’m buying at said they do have 317/70/17’s in BFG KO. No KO2’s. I’m debating between those or 35” Nitto Grappler A/T

Wheel offset is your enemy here. Worst case scenario is that you will need some 1.25” wheel spacers. If the place is local, I would drive over and have them mock it up and see if it rubs.. if you have aftermarket UCAs it’s going to be a case by case issue. I am guessing you will rub or be extremely/scary close. I know it would cause issues with the stock TRD wheels at about 12” wide and those are +60 offset, while it looks like the RW are +50 offset, which is about 0.4” difference and the tire you want is about 12.4” wide... literally dancing on the line.. I think just go check and see :notsure:

You will not rub on the UCAs. You may have to push the front liner in and do a bmc. 315kos are 12.7 wide.

I can say with a lot of confidence,

1.25" wheel spacers may help clear the UCA with will more than likely cause cab mount rub.

    I had 285/75 RW with 1.25 spacers,
Jumped to 35s and rubbed my cab mount like crazy. Took em off, beautiful clearance.

This is a 285/75R17 AT3W on a rock warrior wheel without spacer. Right around 25mm clearance. Based on that, a 315 would have 10mm clearance in that area. You will most definitely rub on the splash guard at full lock, but that is an easy fix with a pair of pliers.

this seems pretty definitive if OP has stock UCAs. I know I was forced into the spacer realm with my SPC UCAs, while their adjustability is awesome, it causes them to stick out a bit extra for that camber adjustment.

Fair point. I assumed OP had stock uppers and in my 'ronaboredom went out and took a pic.

Yeah I’m on stock UCAs. I’m still debating. I have cash down on any set I want. $200 for a used set of 4. Most if not all sets are $200. No worries, it’s a reputable Tire Shop down here in Texas. I guess I just want more side wall and a little poke. I’m hoping 315/70/17’s on some spacers will clear and poke a little. Thanks guys for the info!

What happened with this? Did you get the 315s, if so were the spacers necessary?

Sorry I totally forgot to update! No spacers needed, just had to remove front small mud flaps and trim the outboard edges of the skid plate. No rub at full lock:thumbsup:

Glad you decided against spacers because I know for a fact 1.25" will rub - that's why I took mine off ha

It’s hard to get my big ass head in there to measure but roughly 3/4 of an inch to 1” between UCA to side wall.

I vinyl wrapped those matte black and hit up TVD Vinyl for the white lettering. Super easy, only took about 30 minutes for all four caps including the painful lettering. I appreciate that!

I'm on Method Roosts right now, +25 offset. With 295/60/20 Wild Peak AT3s, they stick out enough to fling rocks all over the place ... I had flares but took them off since I'd rather have the splash protection from the flaps, which flares don't provide. I'm looking at picking up Rock Warrior wheels to pull things back in, and going with a 285/75/17 tire, but seeing this post has me concerned, since I'm running 6112s at the top setting along with SPC UCAs.

What tire size forced you into spacers with RW wheels in combo with SPC UCAs?
