Maybe try asking if YOU can decide which body shop paints it. That way you know it's getting done by a reputable/skilled shop instead of the lowest bidder the dealer can find.

Dealerships will use their own body shop. If you insist that you want them to use a different body shop, they will not guarantee the painted/repaired part if its starting peel or fade.

That makes sense. I have a shop that I know and trust to do work like this, but I guess if the OP is just going off reviews or word-of-mouth then the dealer's shop might be best. :notsure:

OP, maybe also ask if you can give the "kid" that drove the Sienna into the truck a good whoopin'. That might make you feel a bit better too.

LOL... The dealer had no choice but to tell him what happened-- he had already seen the undamaged truck the night before when he put in the order to have the remote tailgate lock installed. Wonder if they would have been as honest if they could have completed the repairs by the time he was scheduled to pick up the truck the next day? :notsure:

I think I'd be beside myself too. You're paying MSRP for your dream truck and had to wait for it to arrive. You probably want to enjoy it for a little bit of time before you get that first scratch or ding... LOL

A week after I bought mine someone hit the exact same bumper end in a parking lot so I know how you feel, but the only thing that would bother me is the extra waiting time while it was being repaired and I wouldn't let that bother me too much. Enjoy your first drive home in that gorgeous truck as all your angst melts away.

For a goof put a blower on it.

I'm curious about the hood scoop. Did you request the scoop delete? I'm just wondering if they swapped hoods with another Tundra and then uncharged for the scoop on the other one.

I would personally milk it for what its worth and take your truck. They are replacing everything with OEM parts. Not like anything structural/electrical/mechanical was damaged nor will you have any bondo hiding under the paint. Yeah it sucks and nobody wants a "wrecked" vehicle, but this is far from a concerning amount of damage. it will never show up in any type of record as wrecked or branded as such since it is not an insurance claim (atleast it should not be). You either need to be fine with taking this truck or walk away. I think you should really leverage them to get the most out of it.
See if you can find someone with auto body knowledge to come inspect the work with you when they are done before you take delivery. I guarantee most people on here would not be able to tell the difference if it is done properly. you will forget about it eventually

I had a 2020 Tundra 4x4 TRD Sport CM in White last month. Deposit paid to the dealer in PA for a truck that is coming in in about 2 weeks. When the vehicle came off the truck, they sent me a text pic. The next day they called me up and said that the vehicle was damaged and it was only visible when the white "shipping film" was removed. The good news is they made me a better deal on a brand new Tundra 4x4 Limited CM in Red.

When you are dealing with reputable people, they seek to solve the problem, not create another.
