This is probably beneath you, but are you going to make it out to this?

Regardless, if you do Holy Cross some time, I'd like to tag a long if you wouldn't mind.

I don’t know why this would be beneath me. I have a stock truck like yours...but with good tires. :D

You plan on driving Holy Cross?

    Make it out then.

I don't have a crawler, so no. I would like to witness it being done though.

I’ll buy you a tank of gas if you help me finish wiring the lightbar. Everything is done for the most part, just can’t get the wiring into the cab through the firewall grommet.

@Grumpy Uncle You good with this?

Woo! Dodged my on call for this. My new job starts on the 20th, so my last day with my current one is the 17th. My on-call was supposed to be on the 24th. One perk with the new spot is no more on-calls... for now. Unless I get promoted, then...

I can make this. Can't access posted trail link without creating an account. Just want to confirm if a day use type pass is required. I wouldn't think so but I don't want to assume. Thanks for putting this this together OP, et al

    2 weeks yall...

OP updated to reflect attendees and finalized trail. Added short video as well.

Oh, BTW, how did you all want to do this? Go Central City to Yankee Hill or the other way around? I'm thinking Yankee Hill to Central. This will put us in a direction that we're always heading out of the forest vs going deeper.

I'm not sure this counts as a "developed recreational area". If it does, a day use fee is $5.

Thanks for the video. If anyone has ever been on this trail know if the stretch seen around 4:20 in the video is wide enough for a Tundra? Steep washout to the right and trees to the left and not much in between.

What direction doesn't matter to me, but guessing central to yankee better? Less time driving to get to the trail and on the way back it's paved roads to get home faster . . . just my $0.02

Yeah, good call... I'm torn between the 2, but less driving to the trail would be something to consider.

Gear is something we should probably discuss though...

I'll bring a couple of shovels and my hedge clippers. Does anyone have a battery operated recip saw with pruning blades? Does anyone have a chainsaw to bring?

Should we do communal lunch or individual?

Video was from 2015 so it's possible that the washout has been filled in.

I have a shovel or 2 in my truck already. I do not have a chainsaw nor reciprocating one that is batter operated, I've been thru trails much narrower than what I saw on the video so I think we should be good. But better to have and not need, then . . . you know . . . the thing :D

I'm good either way with lunch. Grumpy and I usually take a stove and cook brats and shit LOL. We're high class like that.

I have a big bow saw, axe, winch and a few other things. I watched a few videos and it definitely looks Tundra friendly in most places. With as many folks that hit that trail, the only trouble you can get into is if its self inflicted.
I will be driving Mongo more than likely.

OK gotta ask . . . anyone concerned about COVID that we should wear masks, social distance, etc.? If so that would mean no communal lunches.

I'm concerned, but not for myself. My partner has respiratory issues, so she's considered high risk. I would rather not put her in a position that would result in hospitalization.

But good call on the communal lunch. Let's do individual lunches.

I'm likely bringing my boys with me. They only eat pizza and chicken nuggets, so we'll definitely bring our own lunch.

Unfortunately I don't have a sawzall or chainsaw, but I got an axe for father's day if we need to cut a whole tree down! ;)
