Hello all looking for recommendations for a muffler. Was planning on keeping all the exhaust parts stock just simply replacing the muffler. Leaning towards a magnaflow. Looking to get a little more sound out of it but nothing crazy.

Any muffler swap alone will introduce drone into the exhaust. Are you prepared for that battle?

I had a Magnaflow system and it droned like crazy. Do yourself a favor and go with a Dirty Deeds 8” muffler instead. @dirtydeeds

The exhaust pulsing on these motors is different than any other truck motor. If you’re just wanting to get some sound out of it, you’re going to get the drone to go with. There is only 2 exhaust available that have little to no drone at cruise and both are only available as full catback systems. It sucks. But it’s the nature of the beast with this motor. If you’re ok wirh the constant drone, then go wirh the magnaflow. Just hate to see people spend money on stuff and they come back to complain that the exact thing everybody warned them of is actually a thing lol

I'd suggest a 10" BAM, an 8" if you want a little rasp...
Direct bolt on to existing system.
Try it without the resonator first, then install it if needed..

Call Keith and discuss your wants and needs..

If you don't like the sound, too loud or not loud enough, he will swap as long as you pay shipping both ways for the return/new shipment.
I swapped from an 8" to a 10" and I've never been happier.
    I'm also running the resonator.

    Install video..

For what it’s worth. I run an 8” BA exhaust and it’s worth every penny.

I went with a Flowmaster Super 44. It seems to have quite a bit of drone around the 20-25 mph range but I don't mind it as I don't spend much time in that MPH range. It doesn't seem to be ridiculously loud at speed, then again I probably wouldn't care if it was straight piped. My son put a Flowmaster 40 series on his 2010 5.7 and his seems louder than mine.

I've had 8 inch Dirtydeeds muffler over 2 years now and no regret. Only regret is not finding him sooner or knowing about him. I had spent two much money on the two previous set ups to only waste money. Now that I have 8 inch Dirtydeeds I could not be happier. Also customer is top notch

Watch this video with headphones. High quality sound and a direct comparison to stock on the same mic. Gives a perfect comparison.

TLDR: headphones. Buy Dirty Deeds. That is all.

I have had my Dirty Deed's muffler since 2014 on my Rig. Save yourself some money and do it once, do it right!

Anyone that says the "pulses" are different on this engine vs any other v8 are lying. The firing order may be different, but it still exits the head, enters manifolds or headers and goes through a series of pipes to exit the vehicle. Different trucks have different acoustics, or resonant frequencies. An internal combustion engine, specifically gas engines, all operate the same way. Muffler choice, muffler location, pipe size, number of mufflers, tail pipe exit location, etc, all play a role in determining if an exhaust is going to drone. Simply moving a muffler forward or back can change the drone frequency. Same with muffler selection or pipe size. Are some mufflers more apt to done. Absolutely. Typically the further away from an engine the quieter it'll be, potentially less drone. Closer to the engine. The louder it'll be. Personally. I'm currently running a borla pro xs, dual in, dual out with internal x pipe. It sounds really good while on the throttle, however, I wish it had more sound at idle. Warmed up, at idle it sounds stock. My next set up, which should be installed Friday, is a black widow race venom 250, with pipe exiting in front of the rear tire. If it turns out to be too much. Can always run the tail pipe back over the axle.

I had a lot of back pressure on my Corvette. Borla Stainless steel mufflers have such low back pressure, you can touch the muffler. For track use these mufflers are great for me. Having said all this, if you just put them on a stock Tundra and change nothing else, I doubt you will see a performance increase (that goes for any muffler). If your interested in just making your truck louder...then it is something to consider.

I have a stainless Corsa Sport cat back system that I like a lot. It is part number 24916. No drone and relatively quiet until I give it some gas. I paid around $700 out the door and had it within a week direct from Corsa.

Which 2 would these be? How do the BA 8 and 10 compare to each other?

The BA standard systems and a Corsa system. The 10 is slightly louder than stock and is best if you tow a lot. The 8 is much deeper and def gets attention with some throttle. I have the 8” myself and it’s pretty much the perfect exhaust haha.

Thanks. I've watched a bunch of the BA vids and they seem pretty impressive. I'd be torn between the 8 and 10. But why's the 10 recommended for those who tow?

Less drone when towing. Even the 8” will have some drone while towing. 10” is pretty much close to stock while towing.

10 is recommended if you tow a lot. If you only tow on rare occasions you will likely be fine with an 8". That is how Keith explained it, IIRC. I have a 10" system and I did not install the resonator, and it is more than "slightly louder than stock" for sure. It's slightly louder than the TRD Duals that I test drove, but it is a significant step up from the single pipe stock. It changed the tone to a deeper note with no rasp at all, and the drone isn't anything that a low volume tune on the radio doesn't counteract. That's why I haven't put the resonator on. It's got a great sound if you put your foot down, but you can have a pleasant conversation at cruising speeds.
The 8" system will have more rasp and be a bit louder than mine, and because I plan to tow a little trailer a bunch it was an easy decision on the system. If mine was much louder or had more drone then it would make me have to raise my voice to have a conversation while cruising, and it would be obnoxious to me while towing.

@dirtydeeds 8" with resonator. No drone, and sounds amazing. One of the best investments I've done to my 2018.
