Just a simple question. I know, know, know one cannot judge the condition of motor oil by its color.

But comparing all my other toyotas (prius, camry, tundra and 4runner - each over 100K) the oil at 5000 looks so transculent, light golden color whereas all those other toyos oil is dark gray to Black, uggg at 5000.

So again I know I should not judge on just color (should send a sample out - maybe I will for kicks) but what would you do, change at 5000 or 7500 to get a little breather on so many vehicle's oil changes, oh and I forgot to mention the GF's BMW - black as sin at 5000 too.

Oh and the maintenance light came on, is that just miles based or some kind of oil quality sensor? Thanks all, Stay Safe!

Change it whenever and get it analyzed by blackstone or another company. That’s they only way to tell if you need to change oil at 5k, 7.5k or 10k.

Maintenance light is always by mileage. The dealer always has some type of service to sell you every 5k miles.

My new OCI for the 2007 is 4000 miles, because oil & filters are cheap - engines are expensive. I will also perform an AT drain & fill with this next OC, and again with every 5th OC. My 2007 is about to hit 294,000 miles.

5000 since my dealer told me that is the interval and since I have lifetime oil changes though them.

5k because its easy to remember on the odometer and that's about all the miles it'll see in a year.

10K here. Blackstone keeps wanting me to go to 13K.

So are you doing 1 change per year? We dont drive ours much. I would say less than 5k a yr. So i only change it 1 a yr at 5k.
