Hi guys, first post. Just got a new to me 2019 tundra to replace my 2011 tacoma. Love the truck but wondering about a feature i had on my tacoma and if it exists in the tundra.

When a door was ajar and i pressed lock on the fob, the tacoma would let out a constant chime noise to warn that a door was still open and locking was not successful. Very helpful when you are walking away and someone hadn't closed the door completely, you press lock and instead of a beep the chime is a steady constant chime. Does the tundra have this? Is it a setting i can adjust? Mines doesn't do it. Maybe cause it is an SR5 while my old tacoma was a trd sport?

It may be in your settings, in the head unit. I’m not sure.

I'm not sure about the 19's but I know the 20's have it. The only reason I believe it may be different is because the 20's have the keyless entry option. I touch the outside of the door handle with the keys in hand or in pocket and the doors will lock. If a door is still ajar, a loud tone will go off for like 3 seconds. I would dig through your owners manual though to see if you can find it in there. Or maybe someone on here with a 19 can confirm.

Thanks for the replies, all i can compare to is my tacoma and it did not have a smart key fob or keyless entry. It was just a regular fob without push to start.

I think my 2014 1794 has this. But I also have factory alarm. That may be what does it?

I had a 14 Tacoma SR5 and I don't remember mine doing it. But my 20 Tundra is a TRD Sport.

I realize this is an 8 month old thread but I had to throw in my 2cents. I found this because I was searching for just the opposite !

It drives me INSANE that I cannot lock my doors whenever I need to. RIDICULOUS.

With that said, I am sure you figured it out or gave up by now....
But just to point out, my 2016 SR5 will "chime" (long beep) if I try to lock doors with wireless keyfob and one of the doors are open.

You CAN turn off the beep with TS software but it still refuses to actually lock. If you insist on this weird to me "feature" you might try checking the wireless entry section of TS to make sure the chime is ON.

For me, this is silly. When I am getting things out of the back seat and will have my hands full, and since there is no door lock button in the back, I have to open rear door, go back to the front door, lock and close it, walk back around the rear and then get my things ?!?!?! Why can I not just click LOCK on the keys before I get my hands full ? Beyond me.

But anyways, just check the chime setting if you can get access to the TS software, most likely just has been disabled by somebody like me....

What's the next "feature", the engine won't start if a door is open, and the horn beeps ?

Your truck has it. The settings are in the head unit. my 2014 SR5 has it.

With you 100%. All Toyotas are like this, too. Drives me up a wall. If my wife has the door hanging open while she puts on a jacket or something before we go in somewhere I just have to stand there like an idiot and stare at her until she closes the door before I can finally lock it. It absolutely infuriates me. It's a completely useless feature, too. My BMWs and both of my wife's VWs would let you lock the door anytime you damn well please, but try to close the door with a smart key inside the car and the locks pop right back open and the car makes a noise. No reason Toyota couldn't be the same, yet here we are. My 4Runner that I traded in, my Tundra, and my wife's Rav4 are all the same shit. I hate it. It actually might be the thing I hate most about Toyotas.
