Well just got back from the Toyota dealer (7-7-20) I reported a month ago my trailer brakes quite working they said it was water in the plug at the bumper --I said ok they replaced the plug said the problem resolved --no it di not fix it . Now it lighting strike and Ill have to pay the $ 450 dollars if it shows it was lighting - they Toyota Dealer spend more time redirecting the blame then getting to problem fixed. On this form I have seen enough to say it is a Toyota problem.
I will say on the day it failed I did run the gain up from 6.5 to 8 but that is not out range it can run up to 10 .. good luck don't buy an electric brake system for them

Here is a link to the NHTSA complaint site. We need to start flooding this site and Toyota with complaints about this if we expect them to do anything to help us out. Even if you don't Tow anything, having this fixed on your truck will increase the resale value so it's still worth the 3 minutes it takes to file a complaint. ( I did file )

HVTU9344[1].jpg Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and I too have the same issues as everyone. I have a 2020 TSS and it seems that the brake controller is not slowing me down even with the gain at 9.5. I feel a tiny tug but the tires are not locking up at all. Here is my rig and truck. The Rig is Palomino Puma 28RKQS. I have been to the dealer here in TX so many times, they know me by name (lol) . I was told many times that the IBC is in spec, I had the brakes checked on the trailer and still the same results. So my question is, if I get the P3, will I still have the same issues? Or any other aftermarket BC's. BTW, this Husky TS Hitch is a loud MOFO! FINE3366[1].jpg SKWJ5674[1].jpg

If you add a P3 and still have an issue, then its probably the trailer brakes. Have you tried to adjust them just to confirm your trailer dealer is not giving you the run around?

I did have the brakes checked by the RV people, did they actually do it? Prolly not. I will have to take them to a brake specialist and get a double check.

If you have a friend with a truck with an after market brake controller, try it on that. It will tell you REAL quick whether they work or not. On our old 2019 Tundra (the one the tree monster ate) the IBC did not work well with our Winnebago 1790. They tried to say it was the trailer and I called BS as the 4Runner we traded in had a Prodigy controller in it and that worked fine on the very same trailer. Never had a chance to let them fix it because of the tree monster - but have similar issues with the new '19 that replaced it, but this is a new trailer because the tree monster also ate the 1790 and I haven't had a chance to adjust the brakes on the new trailer yet.

Poor dealership? Did you try a different one?

UPDATE:: Still having issues with IBC on the 20 Tundra. Dealer is worthless after 3 different locations with 3 different answers, still not working correctly. I went and bought the P3 and would'nt you know it, there is no plug and play harness (that I know of) for the 20 Tundra. Unless someone here knows of one? I am at a loss.

Amazing that Toyota can't figure this out. Same with their cam tower leak!!! How long does it take for the idiots at Toyota to figure this out? They advertise we can tow 10 or 11K lbs per some bs spec but can't fix the IBC.

the IBC issues go as far back as 2016 if not longer. It should be a very simple thing for Toyota to figure out.

I am pretty sure they sell the plug & play harness for 2016 and sounds like nothing has changed. Have you investigated that?

So I think that I also have this problem, 2019 dbl. cab. We bought the Tundra specifically to tow our 2 horse trailer,7780 lbs. total weight cap. so yesterday went and hooked up the trailer , 2 axle electric brakes, checked that all the lights were working and jumped in the truck and no trailer connected light
Green light. Tow haul on,all lights working, empty trailer IBC would not work at all, when I added gain a warning came up trailer not connected? I did drive the trailer around empty and the brakes were not operating at all. Thats it. No work, So no trail rides till this gets fixed. We did tow this trailer about a 6 month ago with a friends F250 and his controller worked fine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Where are the procedures for hooking up and getting the IBC to operate, can not find in the owners manuel.

Since purchasing my 2016 Tundra I have towed a small TT and never had a problem with the IBC. Since last towing I had a brake service performed on my 2016 Tundra by the dealership. This included inspection, flushing of the brake lines and tire rotation. Since the service I am getting the flashing of trailer connected / trailer not connected continuously while towing our 20' TT. No other work done to truck or trailer. Dealership tells me there is nothing they would have done to cause this.

Any suggestions? Are there sensors that they may have disturbed that could be causing the IBC issue?

    Thanks in advance.

I figured I'd chime in here, rather than make a new thread.

So, I had a 2019 Tacoma using a Curt Bluetooth controller, worked great.. pulled my camper home with it (4hr drive) zero issues.

Shortly after that, I purchased a 2020 Tundra.. I've pulled my camper 3-4 times with the Tundra and I've been having crazy high temp spikes on my TPS monitors for the camper tires.

My first thought was.. surely I don't have bad bearings on a brand new camper... the last time I pulled it, I watched the temps go up (127~F) pulled off, touched EVERYTHING hub/wheel/axle related... cool to the touch. My brake drumes were HOT, not smoking hot.. but, like water too hot to leave your hand in hot.

My conclusion is my electronic brakes are surely dragging with the tundra. I had my gain set at 5.0... I have not tried to diagnose this further, as I just came to this conclusion. Curious if anyone else has had similar issues. I'm not pulling a big camper. Its a 19ft E-Pro (sup 4k lb) trailer.

When I get home, I'll check and make sure all the settings are correct for trailer type/size/etc .. but, I'm fairly confident they are.
