This is a Tundra forum. We measure Smiles Per Gallon here. Need to adjust your attitude and drop all this "MPG" nonsense.

100% kidding. I'm working nights and it's really dead right now and my boredom is showing.

LOL I just want to know what my range will be with a 3500lb 18’ trailer.
I did not buy my Tundra for the great MPG it has.

I hear you. Lots of factors will play into it (tire size and weight, elevation, aerodynamics, fuel grade, lift/suspension, etc.), but I got a hair under 12 MPG pulling a 12 ft utility trailer with a 1400 lb Quadzilla on it. Trailer and UTV would probably be a few hundred pounds lighter than you, but you would have much better aerodynamics. The vertical ramp at the back of the trailer kills mileage. My truck was stock aside from a couple hundred pounds of armor, so depending on what your rig is, you could probably expect something similar to what I got.

Truck will more os less be stock. No bigger tires or lift. No engine or exhaust mods. 11-12 mpg would be great. That will give me a lot of smiles per gallon. Only had the truck a couple weeks now but loving it.

Even if it's down to 10 MPG, a difference of up to 3 MPG is not exactly a bank breaking amount of money.

I should also state that I don't go over 65 MPH when towing, and if I can I will stick closer to 60 MPH. The faster you go, the worse your MPG, so if you plan on punishing your truck by pulling that trailer at 70+ you will be paying for it at the pump.

I stick between 60-65 when towing. I feel it is a lot safer to be a little on the slow side. When towing I’m out for enjoyment and seeing the countryside.

Little late to the party but I bought this exact trailer. Towing with a 2019 1794. Hoping my truck does well, picking up trailer next week along with an equalizer WDH. We really liked the trailer and felt it was light enough on TW for the Tundra. Hope I was right I do not want a new truck lol.

I've towed it a few more times and it does really well. I only wish I had more PL so I wouldn't be concerned with hauling additional weight in the truck bed like generator and fuel, yak, etc.

We really like the 22RBE. Perfect for the wife and me and small enough for most all sites. Congrats on your new TT, travel safe and enjoy.

Are the numbers the only thing keeping you from throwing another 100-200 lbs in the bed? In other words, does it feel like the truck is maxed out? I'm looking at a trailer with a TW of around 650 lbs and with everything else I carry will be right up against (or slightly over) the payload number.

Frankly, yes. If the sticker on the door said my PL was 1,400, I wouldn't hesitate to put another couple hundred pounds in it. The truck does not feel maxed out at all. Tons of power in these pigs. That's not their limitation.

Thanks. Are you running a TRD sway bar or any other mods on your rear suspension?

No, all stock. It really doesn't sag much even without the WDH when I'm towing it from storage to the house. I would like to replace my P tires with LTs pretty soon.

I finally towed my trailer for the first time. 2018 Jayco 28BHBE, total length just under 34’, 6500 lbs dry. I was probably closer to 8000 lbs, with all my stuff in it. I got 152 miles out of the tank, at 7.1 mpg lol

I’m thinking about a 26 ft bunkhouse so I’m glad to see this. Anything other than a WDH to avoid squat? Do you know your tongue weight? Your setup looks awesome.

Thanks! I did install airbags and it made huge difference. I’m running around 65psi when towing. Here is comparison with bags inflated, and down to 6psi

That is a good looking TT.
I recently stayed in a TT and have been reading about them. I may need to do it a few more times to be well versed in this topic. Lots of info on the google and the youtube.

I do want to size my TT right in relation to the tundra. There is a dude on the youtube that tows a 5th wheel with his tundra. lots of mods on the truck but the axles are the same.

Got this over the weekend. Winnebago Minnie 2455bhs. 5300 dry and 7000 loaded. Pulled great on the 5 hour trip home. I have the firestone airbags and air lift compressor setup.. put 35psi while towing home, looked level and rode great about 10 mpg going 70 On the highway

Safari Condo Alto. It's only ~1,800 lbs dry. Really cool design and great build quality - we love it. Yes, I realize that's a 4Runner. But i just bought a Tundra from a forum member, and I'm looking forward to towing with it.image.jpg image(3).jpg image(1).jpg

Nice rig , love the Jayflights , own one myself ! You're borderline needing a 3/4 ton with how big that trailer is though , unless your trucks box is empty and no passengers riding with you , id say you will be running out of payload quickly .

My trailer is a Jayflight 242bhsw , 24' box , 29' over all . 5400 lbs empty , somewhere around 6500lbs loaded . 700 lbs tongue weight , I like to haul fire wood when camping and other supplies that fill my box completely , plus the wife and kid riding with me I know Im at capacity with my Tundra . I wouldnt want to tow anything bigger than what Ive got .

Alot of people forget that manufactures tow ratings are base on a flat loaded bed trailer , no wind resistance and less tongue weight than a typical travel trailer would bring to the table .

That's pretty cool. Is the upper portion all solid? I always thought these were tent material that popped up.

It's 100% solid. The lower walls and roof are made out of a plastic honeycomb-like material between 2 sheets of aluminum. The upper walls when the roof is raised is all tinted tempered glass. There's zero wood or particle board in it other than the cabinet faces.

Very cool and the price reflects that. Even if I could afford one, I need a something that can haul my toy as well as be slept in, but I really dig the look and innovation.
