Well, I finally got the time to get my new struts and 2" leveling kit from Supreme Suspension installed this week. It fought me tooth and nail and I had to work harder than an ugly stripper, but it rides so smooth and I love the fact that it doesn't have that stinkbug stance to it anymore.

My wife and I took it on a trip to Yellowstone Park today and not a single squeak, clunk or rattle from the front. IMG_20200707_204756358.jpg IMG_20180429_113551560.jpg

Thank you sir. The Yellowstone pics are on my wife's phone. She's been there for years now and today was the first time she got to see a bear within 25 meters. Her face lit up like our daughters faces did. It made the whole trip golden...lol

There were a ton of people there. Not as many as I've seen in the past, but a lot more than I figured would be there given the times we're in.

One of the things that fought me were the old sway bar end links. I say "old" because they both snapped on me when I tried to get them off and I obviously had to replace them.

    Lol
Sorry for laughing. I purchased the extended sway bar links I posted when I purchased my 5100's. I'm at the 4th clip so there's no way the stock length was going to work. You may need to be prepared to purchase these, the new ones are under more stress than they were designed to handle. But I think they will hold for a while :fingerscrossed:

I had nothing but problems with the struts. On the driver's side, I knew I should've just put all the tools away and put the lug nuts back on when I had to beat on the tire like it owed me milk money just to get it off the hub.

Nahhhh that's sweat equity. I endured the same but now I can tell you about every nut on my front end, and the nut that turned it

Nice! I just picked up my 01 and the previous owner had a 3” level installed in the front. My truck still has a slight squat to it though. Thinking of going down to a 2.5” level. Other than the kit did you have to get anything else to make it work? I see hoopty mentioning extended sway bars.

No, I didn't need to get anything else to get it done. My ball joints were all good, all steering was/is tight and leak free. The only thing I added with the leveling kit were the brakes and rotors, but I was planning on changing them all at the same time anyway.

The only thing I'm not too wild about is that the front springs seem a bit...squishy. They don't seem to be very firm and the front tends to be a little bit bouncy when I'm going over some bigger bumps. I may upgrade to some stiffer front coils in the future, but for now I'm good.

It might not be your coil springs. I would look into just changing the struts/shocks. Bilstein 4600 or bilstein 5100 (bottom clip) would probably make a big difference on your truck.

I agree, get rid of the leveling kit and go with 5100’s on 3rd or 4th clip. I’m on the 4th clip and she sits level and ride is firm.
