Okay folks. Need some help from someone that knows tires and wheel balancing very well. I have a set of Sport Terrain Oasis 5 Lug rims that I purchased from Tire Rack and then ordered a set of Falken Rubitrek 275/70/18 tires to go on them.
Had them mounted and got wheel shake, took it back and still mild wheel shake. Went to another shop that was recommended and they rebalanced and still got wheel shake 55-65mph. Took it back to them and same thing again.
Went to their sister shop and owner said he couldn't get the wheels to even spin out on the road force machine to start the balance. Not sure what hell was going on their.
Went to shop number four and they used lug centric holder on the road force machine and I was standing there when they balanced all the tires and while it is better than before, still have slight wheel shake at 60-75mph. Took it on a road trip this weekend and still the same at the end of the trip as beginning. Although maybe a little less, but could just be building tolerance for it.
I know have 2K miles on this wheel and tire combination, is that enough to wear them in round if one was out of round enough too cause the wheel shake?
I'm at Wits end and have no idea what to do next. I now have $400 wrapped up in balancing fees and it's still not right.

Update, I spent two hours moving around tires and wheels on the truck last night and found two bad wheel/tire combos and two good. Shop said if they balanced on the machine there is 99% chance it is the tires. Starting the warranty return process now.

Confirmation on results. Received the two new tires this week and took them and got mounted at local shop. This was for sure the problem the truck has no wheel shake now. This will be my last set of Falken tires I will purchase. I had a similar issue with my 2010 Dodge Ram with a set of Wild Peaks from them, but it was very slights so I lived with it.

Yea, I’m just wondering if some of the defective rubber leaving the plants are somehow making it to retail warehouses. It for sure makes me never willing to order tires again. I will go with whatever my local shop can acquire next time. I have $400 in balancing and mounting fees tied into these Falkens. That doesn’t make the warranty seem so acceptable anymore.

A Road Force Balance (Hunter equipment balancer) will identify a bad tire before it goes on the truck

Nope, all three shops I had balance the tires did road force and all said “it has weak spot but it’s not too bad”. Road force is a good thing when shops know how and are willing to use it. I live in DC area and non of these shops with road force understand the thresholds of whAt makes a tire bad.

Shops buy Hunter machines to get the business, I have yet to find but one shop that actually knows how to properly interpret the information and the charge $40 a tire to balance for that expertise and if it require matchbalancing it’s $80 a tire

Hmmmm. I've got a slight vibration since getting tires, but it tends to subside a bit. I was thinking it might have just been flat spots from sitting, but you've got me paranoid now.

Should have zero vibration, dont trick yourself that itll go away. Maybe only first 500 miles or so. After that dont fall in love with dangerous tires because of the brand or looks.

I hear you. I had planned to get the alignment and balancing done a couple weeks ago, but the shop was super busy and wanted me to just drop the truck off in the morning and let them get to it when they could.... It's my only vehicle and I'm not willing to leave it all day for that.

Just put BFG KO2s (275/60/20) on my truck as well.........vibration also, very irritating. Seems to get worse with increase in temperature. Nothing like paying $850 to make your truck worse.

In the past few years, well, probably in the past seven or eight years, I have not had good luck with BFG all-terrain’s at work. I have more vibration and ride disturbance issues on them, then any other product that I sell. And I sell 10 NIttos to every 1BFG at my store.. that tells me something

This is what I try to explain to my customers that buy tires online. Not that there’s anything wrong with the companies that sell them or the places they get them from, but if there is a problem, it becomes a much bigger problem

Great wheels, shit tires. Last Falken's that I will ever buy after three sets and 2 of the three nothing but issues. Love the wheels though, I would buy them again in a minute. I love that they just go 1/4 outside fenders and not and inch plus like the -24 offsets.

fwiw i had the exact same issues with my wildpeaks on my tacoma. Not to mention they only lasted 20k miles. Garbage. Im trying cooper snowtires on my tundra and may get coopers for the summer AT if they work out for me. Nice truck by the way!

Yes i had a set of 265/70/18 coopers the newest all terrains, had them rebalanced multiple times at americas tire. They blamed me
Because i got non oem size tires causing the intense vibrations and making the new 2019 truck drive not in straight line.

That's strange. I just got the Cooper AT3 XLTs mounted up two days ago and they balanced great, only 1 to 3oz of weight were needed, which for tires of this size/weight is pretty good. Ride is smooth, no vibrations or weirdness.
I did a lot of research before buying tires and read multiple stories about the Falkens having balancing issues across multiple models and vehicles. Never read one bad thing in that regards about Coopers... until now.

I've had a set of Cooper ST Maxx's and STT Pro's. Very good tires. You will find very few complaints here with Cooper tires. There's always a couple outliers. The new XLT's are getting great reviews. Both my sets were 295/75/18's. Easy to balance and no vibration issues.
