I remember seeing a post a while back where someone used plasti dip as a primer when color matching the chrome bumper caps.

Up to that point I was leaning towards the idea of wrapping but given the true color matched wrap was ridiculously expensive thought I consider this option. (Want something reversible) Plasti Dip and color matched paint seemed a lot more economical.

I wondering if anything tried this out and can chime in on the pros cons, specifically longevity of using the plasti dip as a primer?

As a primer? What are you going to put on top of it?

I use plasti dip on my grille and hood bulge. Just cleaned the chrome and directly applied it no sanding.

4 good thick coats and it is holding up like a champ. Did it on my last truck as well.

Hood bulge and grille took 2 cans for 4 coats. So for less than $10 you cant beat that!!!
