did you hook up the orange dimmer wire to the factory dimmer wire? this will cause all kinds of light issues.

Try un-plugging the new stereo and see if it resolves the issue.

I would also second the dimmer wire. I had problems with that wire with a Kenwood in an old Volkswagen Jetta.

The Jetta was actually shorting out somewhere else not in my wiring, so I ended up just dealing with using manual dimmer when needed. Electrical gremlins are a PITA to find sometimes, especially on a used car.

Just one thought, I looked at your fuse panel and it looks like the Gauges are tied to the backup lights and AC. Did they also stop working?

If you go back in there and just used the factory ground during the install, I suggest replacing it. The factory ground, which many harnesses (scosche, etc.) will simply tap into, is the antennae and it was adding a bunch of noise into my system. I tapped into some metal (DMM tested) behind the stereo harness and no more noise.

Well, at least you know the circuit is good. Did you use a Scosche or Metra wiring harness? When you pulled the stereo, did you disconnect the wiring harness as well? I know these are simple questions, but I have learned that sometimes the simplest answer works best. Like @robabeatle said it could be a simple grounding issue, maybe the wiring harness is using the wrong ground. I usually ground my stereos to the body by the kick panel for simplicity. The 2nd and 3rd gens have one right near the fuse box that works.

My brother was the one that had the stereo put in, they used everything that was already there, i guess they might have just spliced it in somewhere, this is why I hate electrical. The dimmer switch also dont work if that helps any, I have had this truck for almost 8 months and cannot figure this out

Was it a professional shop? How long ago did they do the work? You might be able to take it back to them to have them sort it out.

    Otherwise you have 2 options:
    1) Cut the dimmer wire at about 2 inches from the stereo, or just before the connector, you may need a wiring diagram from the stereo manufacturer to know which one it is, its usually orange though. The color on your truck won't be orange.
    2) Take it to a professional car stereo shop and they should be able to figure it out

If you can post some pictures of the wiring coming out of the stereo it might help. Better quality is much easier to see what is happening.
