Hey everyone. I have been looking around and could not find the exact answer. I want to get the Techstream software to be able to turn my seatbelt chime off and be able to run diagnostics in the future. I have looked all over the internet, and there are so many options I just do not know what to choose from, or what I am looking for. I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra, some of the software I have found says it is not compatible yet. I was wondering if you guys knew which exact software and cable I should get for this? Like I said I want to be able to turn the seatbelt chime off, without taking the seat buckle apart. If you guys could share your experiences with what Techstream software you used that would be great. Also if you have used it on a 2020 Tundra yet did it work? Thanks guys!

Or if you guys found a way to turn the seatbelt chime off without removing any sensors please let me know! (don't know about anyone else but my dog turns the seatbelt chime on and off on road trips the whole time, and it gets so annoying about an hour into the trip.)

    Function before sparkle.
You can also use the app Carista to turn off the chime. Little more accessible than Techstream.

or get an adapter from newegg for around $15-$20 price and get a download of techstream lite and you can have mod ability for longer than 1 month of $10 for the app and $30 for the adapter.

works out great for me since at one point we had 4 toyota's at once in the house between all the family members. i used the same techstream for my 14 4Runner, 14 Rav4 XLE, 15 Camry XSE, 16 Taco DC Sport, 16 Highlander XLE, 2018 Tundra CM Platinum.

the door chime in the techstream menu is the same for all the toyota's even though i had an old version of techstream that i got back in 2014. even the 2018 tundra menu option comes up the same as the 2014 4runner. granted it didnt show the newer options as that old techstream didnt have it in it, but the basic stuff pulls up correctly as toyota standardize the option across all models/years it seems.

at least that how it worked for me.

Most of the non-grey-market software runs as a subscription - monthly or yearly. Your licence lets you use the software for that time. However, if you just want to turn off a door chime you just get the shortest licence possible and do the change. Once the change is saved to the ECU the software licence doesn't matter and you can cancel or let the subscription expire.

I would put up with it, maybe a piece of tape over it to muffle chime, if I could nt find a phisical fix, rather than pay someone else not hear it. No offense, but imo that seems counter to reasonableness.

You’re paying to access software that can modify an ECU parameter. There are other things that can be changed at the same time if you want. Maybe it’s because I’m a tech guy, but I would happily pay the money to mod an ECU. Not for seatbelts but other things.

Thank you...lol. I wish I would have invented these. I wear my seatbelt regularly, but I had the same problem with my dog not being able to be in a seatbelt and setting off the constant alarm. You can even get them with the Toyota emblem I believe.

Yup. Picked up my daughter's dog for the weekend and had 45 minutes of the stupid chime on and off as it sat on the seat then onto the console and back. Didn't want it on the console but wanted the #$%###$ chime to stop.

Ok I’m doing a run of 10 sets on the 3D printer. $5 a set they will be ready to ship next week. These are not fancy carbon fiber ones. They get the job done. I’ll include normal cheep shipping via snail male if you wants something faster just let me know. send me a PM if anyone is interested.

anything like this or higher BT version via newegg search "ElM327 v1.5 Bluetooth OBD2 CAN-BUS"

i use it more than just techstream, i also use it for the torque app and switch between the 4runner and tundra especially for towing to track transmission temp when pulling a trailer.

best bet is to do a search via google or thru the forums (or try tacoma world, toyota-4runner.org) for a copy of the lite version. sometimes when you buy an adapter they come with a cd with a version you can use, but alot of the chinese sellers have so much virus/malware on the cd its not work the hassle.

Oh I have 2 of those already (elm327s), I use them for torque pro too across 5 toyotas i have (camry, prius, sequoia, tundra and 4runner) for the same reasons you do and/or general inquisitiveness syndrome...boy do those sequoia and tundra develop 'high' trans temps (like for no good reason just putting around can be anywhere between 195 and 228 - strange to me.)

Thanks for replying and Stay Safe!

Or how about put the dog in the back seat. I dont understand why someone would need a dummy plug or turn off the seatbelt chime when there are some very simple solutions. :notsure:

This. I bought it and it's great. I used it to not only do that, but also increase the '3-blink' turn signal thing (when you want to signal that you're changing lanes, but don't need to commit to a full 'click' of the turn signal stalk LOL) to 7, and some other stuff.

The dealer should turn it off for you. Says so in the manual. It’s a user preference, dealer will do it. I didn’t know this when I bought mine, dealer told me it was illegal and wouldn’t. Later I found it in the manual. Emailed Toyota and they confirmed. Left the dealer a bad review which they didn’t like. Oh well. Now they at least can’t tell the next guy they don’t know how or that they can’t.

In the meantime, I bought the Carista adapter and did it myself. Took all of 2 minutes.

If we were meant to wear seat belts, we wouldn't have foreheads..

Could also get a smaller dog? One of those stupid assed tea-cup cat-dog things like my sister has. Might accidentally lose it between the couch cushions at home though..

I'm a mobile mechanic and often have tools on my passenger seat. I also do a lot of low speed (5mph), short distance (less than a football field) driving on my property. Besides that, I always wear a seatbelt and I don't need a reminder from my truck.
