My 2020 Tundra sets up just fine for AA. It starts ok, runs for about 5 minutes playing music and showing the Waze nav screen. Then it quits and will not restart again (no AA option on the projection menu) until I restart my phone. This is a very consistent behavior. I'm using a Samsung S10e phone. Anyone else seen this? Even better does anyone have an S10e that works consistently - I would love to chat about your settings.

I have the latest Tundra audio software and the latest AA software on my phone - all the software on the phone is up to date.

Also - does anyone know what the Software sensitivity setting on the Tundra head unit does? There are three settings: 1,2,3 but I cannot find anything in the manuals about what this setting does.

Hmm, OK, let's go about this a different way. I have been completely unsuccessful trying to use Android Auto on my 2 week old 2020 Tundra using two different cell phones. I tried a OnePlus 7 Pro which would not work at all and a Samsung Galaxy S10e which works for about 2 minutes and/or 2 miles then crashes.

So, does anyone have a 2020 Tundra and a cell phone that Android Auto works consistently? I think it would be interesting for folks to post what they have that works and what doesn't work. Please keep the to Android Auto please - Apple CarPlay is a completely different subject.

I have a 2020, pixel 4 phone and have never had an issue with my Android auto.

Never did anything special, downloaded AA on phone, connected to truck, hit the AA button and it's running.

Sorry, I know that was super helpful for you.

I have Galaxy s10+. From time to time it glitches, bit it's been a long while since it happened. I do have my phone plugged in all the time vs just using blue tooth.

Thanks Sprinter - that is a huge help. That makes me believe my Galaxy S10e should be working also. As much as I hate to do it - I think I'll try a factory reset and see if it works. Thanks gentlemen for your help!

I want to thank the two of you. Both of you gave me valuable clues to debug my AA problem. Knowing your phones worked most of the time - especially another Samsung S10, I knew I had installed something on my phone that was interfering with
Android Auto and causing it to crash on the phone. I had installed a third party launcher to replace Samsung's crappy one. Even though it is very popular - it certainly doesn't like AA. Now that it has been uninstalled my AA has worked well all day. I am
very excited. BTW, the launcher that caused all the problems was Nova Launcher. Thanks again and maybe this will help someone else with the same problem...

It was Nova? Wow. That launcher has been around for ever.

I use a pixel 3xl all the time with no issues. Maybe check that your cord is usb3?

Edit: I also had to update the firmware of the entire head unit with the entune app for it to work correctly, otherwise my calls would not have audio

I have a Note 10+ that works good. Only issue I have is audio is pretty low compared to connecting through Bluetooth. When I initially connect the audio is pretty loud but then it pauses and I have to push play. But the audio volume is definitely lower than when I use Bluetooth. No rhyme or reason. Anyone else have this issue?

It is my belief that even though AA requires a USB cable to work - the audio is still over Bluetooth. I have had issues before with Bluetooth audio not being loud enough. There is an app in the Google Play store called Bluetooth Volume from Nightshade Labs that lets you set the Bluetooth volume specifically. I still have times when something in the OS cuts the volume and this is the quickest way to reset it I have found. I hope that helps.

On a different subject, I have pretty much given up on AA on my 2020 Tundra. First of all it works ok for shorter trips but every single time after about 45 minutes of running Waze and listening to music on my phone AA will crash and stop. I have to reboot my phone to get it to work again. I have never made it to an hour for it to work.

Even when it is working, Waze is so much easier to use on the phone app. The AA variant of Waze is much more difficult to use - especially reporting things like accidents or construction, etc. I am frustrated at the poor programming on Google's part but it turns out running Waze on the phone was never a bad thing. I still here music on my phone thru the tundra speakers as well as the Waze driving instructions and alerts. The only real difference is the small screen of the phone vs the larger Tundra screen.

That's super helpful! I found this thread by searching for android auto problems as I wasn't able to get my phone to connect and I use Nova Launcher too.

EDIT: I deleted Nova Launcher and restarted my phone. AA worked a little better but crashed after a minute or so and then wouldn't reconnect. Sigh.... I hope I can get this to work.
