Yea I've been happy with how it's been holding up. Is your tailpipe tip textured ike the steps. mine was a TSS package, so it came with the textured black steps and exhaust tip. But yea, it's hard to keep the exhaust tip looking decent!

No, smooth paint. This is the one I have. Doesn’t look anything like this anymore though.

Oh gotcha! Can't treat it like paint and polish and seal?

I haven’t tried that. I’ve had success with some metal polishing wipes and a stiff brush, but it’s a hassle. It also goes back to looking bad pretty quickly. It just bakes on any mud and dirt.
Maybe I’ll take it off, give it a good polish, and put ceramic on it. I figure the heat will destroy any sealant pretty fast. Maybe ceramic will hold up for a while.

Normally they have been great. I usually wash them prior to use but I had the same issue when I didn't wash. Orange dye and lint.

Decided to remove the tundra platinum badge. Was a bitch to remove but got it off with heat, fishing line, wd40, then used an eraser wheel to get the residue off. There is a rectangle of slightly raised paint all the way around. I used capro clear cut then essense and it still is there. Not sure outside of wet sanding what i can do. Maybe a decal lol. Who can make me a tundra platinum decal that size? I'm hoping to get the whole.truck polished and coated with cquartz soon.
Oh and I used some carpro DLUX on the mirrors and handles and I like it, cowl will be next for the DLUX.

    Both sides of the truck?

Maybe repainted and the emblems weren't removed and just taped off?

Yeah both sides. I don't think repaint because now I can see areas inside, circles where the adhesive dots were, it appears the adhesive almost lifted the paint at the outer edges of the contact points

Went to the store today to pickup some kind of quick exterior spray, a guy also looking said to splurge and get the CG hydroslick, so I did. Stuff seems tough to wipe off, and my door looks streaky/big wipe marks everywhere now. Used a microfiber to apply and wipe off but wishing I hadn't even touched it. Did I do it wrong or something?

I'm not a big fan of CG, personally I'd rather spend less on something like griot's which is available in some stores. I think its overpriced for what you get.

Yea I was just looking at some cheaper spray detailer/wax stuff and the guy said he loves this stuff, as well as the person at the till. But it looks like I took a wet rag over my door and you can see the swirls/trails everywhere. Glad I only did the front and one door. Stuff was $50 cad a bottle!

Ugh that sucks. CG has a great marketing department and a lot of people buy into the hype unfortunately

It could be just me since I would consider myself a highly novice detailer but I followed the instructions(apply with microfiber, wipe off with microfiber) and am not impressed. I have a clean truck but I'm tempted to go wash to see if the swirling is just leftover product. :annoyed:

Well the big claim to fame with that product is just how easy it is to apply, so even more reason to back away slowly. Haha

Was not easy to apply. Said to apply 4 or 5 small dots to a cloth and wipe on, well first time the dots just fell off the cloth onto the paint lol. The next few it all came off as soon as I touched the paint, and was uneven to spread. Overall it was just a miserable experience and now I have a swirly front end/left front fender and door lol. Oh well

Griots Speed Shine can be used as a drying aid, but I prefer Griots Spray Wax when I use a drying aid, which is very seldom. To me, it does the same thing and adds a little carnuba protection. Since you already have Bead Maker on there, you're technically topping a sealant with a wax, which is the preferred method. I wash my truck once every three weeks, and it used to get a fresh coating of Bead Maker, until I started using an SIO2 sealant (Wolfgang). I'm giving Wolfgang Uber SIO2 Silica Spray now, seeing if there's anything to product synergy, and to check its longevity.

This is the most common complaint with Hydroslick. On the up side, it will not likely last very long. Earlier in this thread, Griots 3 in 1 was suggested, and it was a very good suggestion. Be mindful of the conditions (heat/humidity/sun) when you apply to avoid streaking. It is a very simple and effective product, and is probably available locally too.

I'll have to see if I can find it and give it a shot, thanks

I applied this stuff outside, in the shade, but it was about 28c here that day. By the sounds of it I'm sure it was a bit of both the product and my ability, but such is life. Will I wind up with that sort of streaking/swirling using the microfiber with the 3 in 1? Tough to describe but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Like wiping a window with a wet paper towel, leaves that circular trail everywhere. My cloths are about 6 years old now too so might be time for some new ones anyways. Haven't busted them out since I had my evo x!

In high heat and humidity, you’ll get streaks with just about anything. Best bet is to apply very early in the day, and in the shade. The 3 in 1 is just as prone to streaking as most products in the heat. Applied in mild conditions, there shouldn’t be an issue.
I’m going on 4 months after application of Griots 3 in 1, and it doesn’t seem to have degraded at all. So far it’s performed more like a ceramic than my ceramic did if that makes any sense. Water runs off like crazy, and it’s staying very clean. I got a pretty damned good result just rinsing it with water a week or so ago.
This is from a week ago, after about 3 1/2 months:

Pudge how are those spots doing. I had similar areas and even though some people disagreed I used a magic eraser on it then compound/polish after a little time it looked great. But of course my truck is white so your blue maybe a little different

Question for the griots 3-1 ceramic spray guys out there.

I’m wondering if I can use it as a topcoat over my cquartz U.K. I have been applying elixir and reload at time intervals that have been recommended

Detailers...New to the game, using a DA polisher but the polish is drying out very quickly. Any thoughts... too much product, not enough? After doing a panel I would have to rub fairly hard to lift all the polish. Any help would be awesome
