Does anyone know the differential fill plug thread size and pitch? I'm looking to install a temp sending unit for the rear end.

You need to re-think using the drain plug, it won't last long in a position for very long. I have seen people using the fill plug hole, but the probe isn't always under the fluid.

Did you call your local Toyota parts department?

This sounds like a really bad idea to put the thermocouple in the drain port.

Yeah, after some research I'm going to install in the fill port as there is sufficient oil splash to get a good reading and not lose the magnet in the drain plug. But still need the thread pitch and size.....

    Krohsis,
since you are thinking about the differential sender unit, I was curious if you also have an oil temp gauge sender for the engine oil and if so, what are your experiences with it?

No, not for engine oil, but I have considered it, more for entertainment value than any real need, as there is an oil cooler for the Tundra motor using engine coolant to cool the oil. How effective it is, well, that is where the entertainment comes in. Also an oil pressure gauge as well since the factory one is so heavily damped.
